Share

Mighty Mufulira Wanderers were held 0-0 at home on Friday by a plucky Napsa Stars at Shinde Stadium in Mufulira.

The result saw Napsa remain unbeaten under new coach Tennant Chilumba for a third succesive match although he has yet to pick up a win with the second from bottom club.

Napsa left with a point thanks to some outstanding goalkeeping by ex-Zambia Under-20 and Chiparamba goalkeeper Philip Banda.

Banda stole the spotlight in a rather boring encounter when he denied Wanderers four times starting with an Austin Banda effort in the 31st minute.

Then Wanderers’ Ghana-born striker Raheem Osmanu sent his header marginally over the bar in the 37th minute in the last piece of goalmouth action before the break.

Banda again denied Austin Banda from a free kick in the 46th minute and later collected Joseph Kasongo’s header in the 57th minute.

Wanderers frustrations continied when Banda made a cheeky interception in the 78th minute when he body-checked Taonga Bwembya free kick on the nearpost to trap the ball.

Wanderers rise one spot from 10th to 9th on 19 points after picking up their second successive draw to stay unbeaten in their last four games while Napsa stay in 17th on 14 points.
