FORMER United Party for National Development (UPND) Zambezi ward Councilor Philimon Musonda and 50 other UPND supporters in Livingstone have defected to Patriotic Front (PF).

Mr Musonda and 50 others were received in Livingstone yesterday PF Livingstone parliamentary candidate Omar Munsanje and PF Livingstone District chairperson John Mukosho.

In his speech after defection, Mr Musonda urged Zambians to vote for President Edgar Lungu and the Patriotic Front in the August General Elections.

He said the Patriotic Front under President Edgar Lungu has earned it self-enough trust from the Zambia people because of its robust developmental agenda that has spread to all corners of the nation.

“When you go to Zambezi ward, the fruits of the PF are everywhere to see, they have put up a sewerage system, provided 24 hour supply of water and built a school there. Why shouldn’t I be part of the team that is doing wonders in Livingstone?

“So come 11 August, Vote for Edgar Lungu, Omar Munsaje as Member of Parliament and the PF for more development and prosperity for Zambia, ”Mr Musonda said.

Receiving the defectors, PF, Mr Munsanje welcomed the team and asked them to work together with the ruling party.

Mr Munsanje said the PF was in a hurry to develop Livingstone and other parts of the country.

When contacted for a comment, UPND Livingstone spokesperson Neto Halwabala wished Mr Musonda well and thanked him for his contribution to the opposition political party.

“We thank Mr Musonda for his contribution to the UPND and we wish him well with his newly found friends. Mr Musonda has just exercised his democratic right to belong to any political party and as a party (UPND) in Livingstone we are not shaken by his departure”he said.

    • We expected the opposite to be happening this time around like in 2011 were people were flocking to the opposition. These are no signs of change.

    • Whichever way, HH made a self-inflicting pain.
He has dribbled himself from continuing with his political career.
HH’s political career has been deeply challenged, because after losing in August 2016 he will be forced to retire from active politics by the ‘guys’ or is he going to accept to be a mere UPND member, or at least a member of the NEC?
Let us assume that in the unlikely even he won the election (forgive me for assuming the impossible), GBM would be a thorn in HH’s flesh – take it or leave it. GBM would have a constitutional mandate just like HH, and HH will have no powers to fire him. Those who know GBM will tell you, that HH’s would not be easy.

    • You may not like what I have said but that matters little the point is that, whichever way, HH’s career has taken a self-inflicted challenge because of greed – the hunger and thirsty for State House.

    • Why people are not questioning President Edgar Lungu’s choice for running mate vice president Inonge Wina, but Question HH’s running mate, GBM.
Coparing the two – GBM and Inonge Wina, you get the following:
      1. GBM insults – Inonge Wina does not
      2. GBM fights and assaults people – Inonge Wina does not
      3. GBM is involved in GBV – Inonge Wina is not
      4. GBM once was taken to police by spouse for assault – Inonge Wina was never taken to police for assault for all the time the husband was alive.
      5. GBM has had many police cases – Inonge Wina has had none
      6. GBM’s education is in serious doubt – Inonge Wina’s is not
So, HH, based on my perception that your caliber had capacity to do so I expected you to easily see the above.

    • @ Suntwe.
You have never head of this councilors but atleast a simple coucilor has defected with 50 UPND members which is better that Nevers Mumba or GBM or even Guy Scot’ s defections becoz they defected with no PF member

  1. ULI WANZELU PHILLIMON MUSONDA KUCHOKAMO BEFORE THE FINAL DENKETE ATTACK TO UPND. COME TO THE GOD-CHOSEN LEADER IN ECL. “LET THE SLEEPING GARUS LIE”. BATULO.

    • Ba mudyesa!
If he wanted development, he should have gone to MMD. They started all this that we see. But it was too little too late. Massive projects with a budget surplus in post-global crunch period.

Today with ECL, continuation of MMD projects with not only huge budget deficit, but also huge debt. These two would weaken the currency nd subsequently cause an incline in inflation given the fact that Zambia’s is an import-dependent economy.

  2. This is a very good example that PF under the leadership of His Ex The president of Zambia Edgar Changwa Lungu is working.

    Viva ECL 2016

    From your Friends in Livingstone

  3. I cannot fail to notice that the defector carries a bemba name. According to UPND reasoning the appointment of GBM will carry all the bemba votes to UPND, no?

  4. let him go, thats his choice but the fact will still remain that HH and GBM will pull through. the boy is just hungry for money, we all know that things ain’t good. he wasn’t adding any value at all…!!!!!!! UPND will win the elections in livingstone and in Zambia. WATCH n LEARN!!!!!!!!

  5. HH promised to get the PF top grass and the majority will defect after dissolution of parliament but it’s not what am seeing. I can see a lot defecting during voting to PF.
