Power Dynamos welcome new coach Dan Kabwe with win

Power Dynamos beat Kabwe Warriors 2-1 on Saturday to welcome new coach Dan Kabwe with a home win in Kitwe.

Kabwe on Saturday signed a three-and-a-half year contract with Power just two hours before kickoff at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe before heading up into the VIP section to get a sneak preview of his charges and the task that lay ahead.

This is Kabwe’s second stint as Power coach after an early but brief tenure in 2001 before his ex-club Zanaco swooped in on him halfway through his first season at Arthur Davies.

Power secured their win thanks to goals from Martin Phiri and Francis Kasonde in the 27th and 52nd minutes.

Warriors were on target in-between in the 37th minute when Josphat Kasusu headed in a Godfrey Ngwenya’s free kick.

Power rise from 5th to 3rd on 24 points, displacing Zesco United to only play on Sunday in the big Kopala derby away at leaders Nkana.

Meanwhile, Anderson Phiri who has been in charge for the last matches reverts to first assistant after picking up his fourth win in charge that included two draws and as many defeats.
