Zanaco topple Nkana from number one

Zanaco toppled Nkana from top spot for after a 3-0 home win over Nkwazi at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka to take the overnight lead on the FAZ Super Division table.

It is the first time this season that Nkana have been unseated from the top spot after setting the pace from day one on March 12.

Zanaco, though, are tied on 28 points with Nkana but with a better goal difference.

However, Nkana will reclaim top spot on Sunday if they draw or beat defending champions Zesco United in the big Kopala derby at Wusakile in Kitwe.

Nkana have never beaten Zesco in 16 league meetings since the latter were promoted in 2004 suffering 11 defeats and Zanaco will be hoping it is business as usual to maintain the status quo.

Meanwhile, Zanaco secured their win thanks to goals from Fashion Sakala in the 52nd minute while Seith Sakala made it 2-0 in the 72nd minute before defender Ziyo Tembo added the final goal in the 84th minute.

Ziyo’s goal took his tally to four in all competition this season.
