In a statement, Engineering Institution Zambia says a team of experts will investigate the accident and produce a comprehensive report and recommend appropriate action therein.

It said EIZ as a professional statutory regulatory body, one of its functions is to investigate and monitor national emergencies or disasters or any other matter of public concern caused by, or likely to be caused by, an engineering product or service and recommend appropriate preventive, rehabilitative or other measures.

  1. So the whole engineers going to investigate why an industrial pot blew up …really laughable…even a technician in his lounge can tell you the reason just by looking at the maintenance sheets and schedule.

  2. I can see the inspector himself looks blank from the picture I doubt if he even knows what to look for in establishing the facts as to what happened. How can you go into such as area without complete safety attire???

  3. Inexperience people who have no or very little experience in the industry. Can’t even design a simple tooth pick. And we are importing everything.

  4. Imwe sure, our so-called Engineers cannot design and manufacture a simple copper washer yet, we’re a copper producer but ALL copper washers are imported from abroad

  5. EIZ, you are nowhere to be seen and now want to react when a soul has already been lost. Boilers and indeed any other pressure vessels require periodical testing for compliance. Yes it is every one’s responsibility to ensure that rules are followed and so is it the responsibility of the EIZ to ensure we comply by making surprise visits to companies. You know very well who are the majority of the kind that own these companies and indeed their attitudes towards safety and worse still on spending on such ventures. WORK UP EIZ. Try to be proActive rather than reActive. Tell us when you last inspected the said vessel so that we can also judge whether you are accomplices to the issue or not. Am sure you have records at your Offices.
