In a statement Zambia Police Chief Kakoma Kanganja said the police has noticed a proliferation of items that are dangerous which are being used to cause insecurity in our country.
He said the law is very clear on persons moving around with weapons and that those found wanting will be arrested.
“The police has noticed a proliferation of items that are dangerous which are being used to cause insecurity in our country. The items include air gun pistols which have become common,machetes (pangas),taser guns and catapults among others.
“We would like to warn the general public that Section 84 of the Penal Code Act states clearly that any person who goes armed in public,without lawful occasion in such a manner as to cause terror to any person commits an offence and his arms may be forfeited,” he explained.
The Police Chief added “From the foregoing,with regards to the political violence we had experienced the police will not hesitate to arrest anyone found armed in public in a manner that causes public terror even if such persons are licensed fire arm holders.”
He further said he has directed the police to ensure that anybody found armed in public is arrested regardless of their political affiliation.
“We do not expect anyone to be armed in public in such a manner as to cause terror to the general public.
“I am therefore,directing all police officers to ensure that all those who are found armed in public and causing terror regardless of their political affiliation are arrested and prosecuted without any due delay,” he said.
But how are we going to protect ourselves from pf thugs, when you are pro pf? Teaser guns and paper spray are for self defense.
