Zesco seek revenge against Buffaloes

Share

Defending champions Zesco United seek a second straight FAZ Super Division win on Saturday in a space of four days when they hosts Green Buffaloes at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

The rescheduled Week 14 match comes after Zesco beat Red Arrows 2-0 on July 6 to go second on the table and move within nine points of leaders zanaco.

Zesco , who have 31 points, with three games in hand, take on a Buffaloes side they have yet to lose to in league action since 2012 when they were beaten 1-0 away in Lusaka.

The Ndola side beat Buffaloes 2-1 at Levy last July to pick up three wins and as many draws against the Army side in the league.

However, Zesco will also be hoping to get some revenge over Buffaloes who denied them a double last season when the latter beat the former 1-0 in the 2015 Barclays Cup semifinals.

And league top scorer Jesse Were will be looking be part of that act and to add to his 11 goals after netting one against Arrows to move two points clear ahead of Nkana’s Walter Bwalya.

Missing will be midfielder Cletus Chama who is suspended after picking up a red card in Zesco’s 2-0 away win over Lusaka Dynamos on June 22.

Meanwhile, the game will be Zesco final domestic engagement before taking on ASEC Mimosa of Cote d’Ivoire on July 16 in the two sides third 2016 CAF Champions League Group A match.
