UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema has described former Kalomo Member of Parliament Request Muntanga as a very dedicated leader.
Mr Hichilema said he has received the news of Mr Muntanga’s death with shock and grief.
“Request will be missed in so many ways. We fought battle after battle alongside Request. He was a prolific debater in parliament as MP for Kalomo Central constituency, and he represented the people of Kalomo and the people of Zambia most nobly. We cannot even begin to think of how the party will function without Request,” Mr Hichilema said.
“In the height of probably the most violent by-election in the history of Zambia in Livingstone, Request led from the front and defied all manner of intimidation to ensure that UPND members campaigned in the semblance of a peaceful environment. We could go on and on eulogizing this comrade because Request did a lot of things for UPND and for Zambia as a country. In short comrades we have lost a very dedicated leader in Request.”
“Go well Request, we will meet again. To his immediate family we would like to offer our heartfelt condolences and encourage you to soldier on to ensure we deliver on his promise.”
And UPND presidential campaign manager Dipak Patel said he is shocked by Mr Muntanga’s death.
“My friend of many years has passed on. It was Request Muntanga who convinced me to come out of retirement and join the HH 2015/16 campaigns. He had a great sense of humour and was a fighter for what is right for our country,” Mr Patel said.
He added, “He provided me guidance on many aspects of the UPND and the campaign. Whenever we needed him he was always available. A friend with whom I spent many years in Parliament will be sorely missed. May His Soul Rest in Peace.”
Mr Muntanga died in Lusaka yesterday at UTH after suffering a stroke.

HH says of a man who could not be adopted as UPND Kalomo parliamentary candidate that ” we cannot think of how the party will function without Request”. On the Muvi TV programme, Zambia Decides, HH is heard saying that “it is unfair for people who have been MP for at least three times to claim that the party does not appreciate their contribution just because they have now not been adopted.” Yet one may ask, how many times HH has attempted to be Zambian President and the UPND has continued adopting him.

HH and his cadres are busy causing confusion along Cairo road of Lusaka while his close ally Request Muntanga is having his last breath of Life in UTH!! This is how HH has paid back one of his loyal friends. Not even bothered to visit him in UTH or attempt to evacuate him to SA!!!

You don’t know Muntanga or what HH did for him when his farm had been repossessed by Finance Bank…..I am a farmer just close to Request and for a fact know that but for HH, he wouldn’t have had Rose Farm today where he has left the Ruze chalets.

Rip Mr. Mutanga… its so sad that his rich comrades did not even think of evacuating him for treatment. Not really surprised it happened to Dr. C. Banda. If one cant even help close allies, how can he even make Zambia a better place for people he doesn’t even know to live in. BE WISE Bane’ the writing is on the wall.
Yes they dropped him, for publicity purposes they pretended to readopt him when he suffered a stroke, but they had a standby in case he did not recover but in fact they did not expect or want him to recover. In the words of Spokesperson Kakoma when he visited Hon Request at UTH “…miracles can happen…”. Sounds heartless to.me, anyone else see it that way? I am not asking UPND cadtes here, i know they will just insult me without answering my question, but you know the chief UPND insulting consultant dont you? The very Chilyata guy who practices insults found right deep in chuundu county.
