The Esther Lungu Foundation Trust has donated and installed solar power systems at two Rural Health Centres in Rufunsa district of Lusaka province.
The Solar lighting system that wes acquired with the help of the friends of the trust, Galaxy Technologies, have been installed at Tengama and Shikabeta Central Health Posts.
ZANIS reports that First Lady, Esther Lungu, who is in Rufunsa district for a three day visit, launched the solar power project at Shikabeta Central Rural Health Centre today.
The First Lady explained that with the good lighting system in place, the clinic will now be able to conduct any medical procedure at any time.
She further explained that the newly installed solar power system will serve expectant motherd from waiting for daybreak to be attended to properly.
She stated that solar power will also solve the problem of storage of drugs through refrigeration especially that Rufunsa is not yet connected to the national power grip.
She thanked Galaxy Technologies for partnering with her foundation in the provision of solar power equipment in rural health posts and centres across the country.
And Galaxy Technologies Managing Director, Adams Essa, noted that the same system that has been installed in Shikabeta can be implemented at all state community facilities throughout Zambia.
Mr Essa said his company has provided not only the technical solution but also the required funding of more than $45 000 to ensure that the first two rural health posts in Rufunsa district area provided with sufficient power for all its lighting requirements.
The company has since proposed a long term partnership with the Esther Lungu Foundation Trust to rollout the programme for not only all the health posts in Zambia but all other community facilities in the country.
Mr Essa disclosed that his company has secured donor funding for these types of programmes and that through the partnership they can access all the funding to support not only the programme in Rufunsa district all other required community facilities.
Earlier, Rufunsa District Commissioner, Judith Chama, commended government for implementing various developmental projects aimed at bettering the welfare of the people in the new district.
Mrs Chama said the people are happy with government’s developmental agenda.

Why is it that these foundations die immediately their husbands are out of office? Do they use taxpayer’s money? Remember Vera Chiluba’s Hope Foundation, Maureen Mwanawasa’s Fountain of Hope, Thandiwe Banda’s fimofimo Foundation, Kaseba’s Foundation and now Esther’s Foundation. What happens to all this money when they leave office?

Can she provide evidence of the source of financing? This is tax payer’s money. There is no donation here. This belongs to the Zambians because it is their tax money been used. LAST FRIDAY, something really terrible happened in Lusaka.
The opposition UPND had earlier in the week notified the police of their intention to hold a political rally in Chawama on Friday and in Kanyama over the weekend. At the very last minute, the police informed the UPND leadership that their planned rally had been cancelled due to the poor security situation. But the opposition UPND protested the decision and decided that they would defy the decision. Some youths opted to march to the venue. Unfortunately, the police reacted by firing live bullets and teargas canisters at the unarmed youths. In the process, a number of UPND supporters were badly injured while about 2 were killed. And according to the police, about 22…
protesters were arrested.
This is not really the first time something this disturbing is happening. From the time the election campaigns started, we have seen carders from the opposition UPND and the ruling PF clashing from time to time. A number of deaths have actually been recorded. But what happened last week Friday is something that could have been avoided. It appears to us that the police in this country is failing us.
Firstly, it is very, very difficult for us to understand why the police decided to cancel the UPND rally. Their reasons for cancelling the rally are not very valid. This is the campaign period where all political parties need to freely sell themselves to the electorates. And as such, we have seen the ruling PF hold rallies whenever and wherever they feel like…

On the other hand, PF supporters are free to wear any type PF regalia they feel like. So, where are the police to protect the UPND supporters? I have been following the election season with keen interest. I suggest it’s never a good idea for any politician to have their spouse campaign on their behalf. It’s a recipe for disaster because I think it carries a dynastic tone.

A week ago there was an article here of “Lusaka’s new Satellite City” a Solar powered city.Esther Lungu co own Shishima holdings,company that manufatures Solar Panels.The way it works is that;when people apply for government tenders,Lungu and his minions threatens the applicants that they ll only get the tender to supply or build if he or his family & freinds directly became partners in that project.Therefore most of these companies because they ve to make profit,they are forced to comply,& directly cede shares to Lungu & his minions including Esther.So most of these Companies donating,supplying & building they are actually owned by Lungu or Esther themselves.Its there companies.
