Lusaka Politician Patrick Mungo says it will be a sheer waste of time to hold national prayers on 24th July, 2016 if some politicians and their supporters remain unruly during the campaign period, reports Pan African Radio Journalist Hermit Hachilonde.

The National Day of prayers for peaceful elections will be held on 24th July, 2016 in Lusaka’s show grounds from 14:30 to 16:00 hours.

Mr. Mungo said prayers without self-control are meaningless and will not change anything regarding political violence.

He stressed the need for every Zambian to show willingness in praying for peaceful elections on a slated day of prayers for the nation.

Mr. Mungo said it is significant to involve God especially in the forthcoming General elections for Zambia to continue being a beacon of peace.

He said praying for peace when some individuals are champions of political violence will not yield any positive results and will be just a setback to the country regarded as an oasis of peace in Africa.

“It is very important to exercise what we are praying for because pray without self-control is meaningless” he said

  1. Especially Upnd cadres and there tribal leader. The 1diot misbehaved at mulungushi centre calling everyone motion and 1mbeciles. The diplomats were shocked at this under5 behaviour.

    • It is for the same reason (violence) that prayers should be held…One prays for thanks giving (for blessings) and for protection against evil forces (violence from UPND)

    • Off course, these prayers are organised by cadres in priestly robs to support a violent and brutal regime so that they can brutalise the opposition and the masses under the cover of God’s name. Cursed are these priests and the rulers they lay their hands on.

  2. Praying in earnest is never a waste of time. The effectiveness and power of prayer does not depend on the conduct of politicians and their cadres. It depends on who is praying (James 5:16). Prayers such as those to be held on 24 July are a petition to God to take control of the political stage in Zambia and have his way. God is all powerful and can intervene in a way that suits his purpose. So let no-one be deceived, let’s put our trust in God and victory over all opposing forces is certain.

    • What is important is these prayers is agreement but if have fellows like Kolopa ,Techilema in attendance and with the attitude of Dunuma forward, can anything be achieved. That is the reason these corporate prayers should be birthed from reconciliation, confession and sincere forgiveness as those are among the conditions God has put forward rather than mere pronouncements.

  4. “Prayer is like masturbation. It feels good to the person doing it, and does nothing for the person they’re thinking about”–Don Baker.

  5. Has anyone noticed that not a single amputee has ever, ever, had a limb restored due to prayer or any other religious miracle?

This ‘god’ must either hate amputees, or is totally incapable of restoring lost limbs, in which case his so-called omnipotence and benevolence is a fallacy.

    So, why call him ‘god’?
Why would any sane person worship an impotent deity?

  6. Trouble in Zambia is that religion is like a coat in a wardrobe – people just put it on when required but keep it off most of the time. Therein lies our problems. The religions we have adopted are so at odds with our cultures that everything is a paradox when we try to be religious.

  7. most pf cadres are just chakolwas and evil..God should crack on them a whip that day..many should die for hypocrisy

“Indeed, it is a curious puzzle of history that so many Africans have so willingly embraced the faith of the white slave master.”

  9. I Burned the image of White Jesus to let the World know that, We are waking up to the Lies that were told to Us. Christianity is One Big White JOKE! Africa Must Wake Up and Realize That Christianity is not in Our Nature and That It’s one Of The Reasons why Africa Is Suffering. I CHALLENGE ALL AFRICAN’S WORLD WIDE TO TAKE UP THE CHALLENGE AND TO HELP BREAK THE CURSE OF THIS WHITE DEMON Called……THE CRACKER JESUS! Anybody Who Wanna Join Me Hit Up MrSavannahblack Conscious Attack”

  10. I advise HH and his group to attend Sunday’s prayers on 24 July. If he shuns these prayers, Zambians will also shun him on 11 August. So to up his slim chance, he must attend and may be, just may be, he will narrow the margin of defeat and survive humiliation. I pity HH, that is why I’m offering this advice. HH, you are being offered a fair chance to concede defeat with minimum humiliation. So do not shun the prayers.

    • Bushe praying is to force??

Rather go & tame your violent PF cadres & killer policemen than trying to show that u r holier than thou.

    • prayers are necessary when you politicians have failed to resolve issues. When we are in problems that is the best time to cry to GOD.
