Process for new burial site to commence soon once new Cabinet is in Place

Paramount Chief Mpezeni of the Ngoni people ( c ) has become the first Ngoni chief to visit the burial site of Ngoni warrior Zwangendaba who died in 1848 and buried at Mititi Village in Nakonde district of Muchinga Province. The Ngonis want to exhume the remains of Zwangendaba and rebury them at Feni in Chipata. Paramount Chief Mpezeni was accompanied by Chinsali DC Evelyn Kangwa ( l ) Muchinga PS Charles Sipanje ( second left ) and Energy PS George Zulu ( r ) among others.

The Lusaka City Council (LCC) says the process of finding a new burial site for Lusaka will commence once the new cabinet is put in place.

LCC Public Relations Manager Habeenzu Mulunda told ZANIS in a telephone interview in Lusaka today that the Ministry of Lands and the Ministry of Local Government are spearheading the process of finding an alternative land for burial.

Mr. Mulunda was responding to concerns from members of the public over the limited space for burial at Chingwele and Leopards Hill cemeteries in Lusaka.
