A Zambian national and businessman has been reported missing in Pretoria, South Africa since Friday last week.

First Secretary for Press at the Zambian High Commission in South Africa Nicky Shabolyo named the missing person as Sajjad Ahmad Abbasi.

Mr. Shabolyo said in a statement issued to media in Lusaka today that Sajjad went missing on Friday, the day he checked out from his apartments in Graystone Drive in Sandton.

Mr. Shabolyo explained that Sajjad arrived in South Africa on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 and stayed at Hydro Park Furnished Apartments in Sandton.

He said Sajjad was however last seen on Thursday at a named shopping mall where he requested to be dropped off by his colleagues and that someone would pick and take him to Four Ways Suburbs.

Mr. Shabolyo disclosed that preliminary information have revealed that Sajjad had travelled to South Africa to pick a Toyota Lexus which he is understood to have paid for last month.

And Mr. Shabolyo said the case of Sajjad has since been reported to the South African Police for investigations.

    • Chefyeniko ubufontini. You mean you don’t know there Zambians of Asian or European origin, some of whose families have been in this country for several generations?

    • @facts, in Asia, even if you live there for generations they will not make you a citizen. Actually, as a black once you just jump on bus or train they all start laughing at you. They also assume every black woman is a prostitute ..the first question they ask is “how much. In summary, they cannot accept you but you have allowed them to take over your country…docile!!

    • @Pwanya ninies,… extremely ignorant and f0olish comment. And yet you have Zambians named Guy Scot and Rajan Mahtani. Anybody who is born in Zambia, regardless of where the parents came from, can be a Zambian citizen by birth. Actually one can even become a citizen by registration, if they marry a Zambian. Read your constitution please.

    • Pwanya ninies and Umuntu I agree with you 100%. It is only in Zambia where people with such names can be ‘Zambian’. Go to Asia, specifically Russia and China, and live there for 20 years and see whether you will be accepted as a Russian or Chinese. Nothing like that happens that side. They will still treat you as a monkey. So such a name and the person carrying it CANNOT be Zambian. Period!

    • Iwe ka Musonda Kateule don’t break our ribs. How can such a name be Tonga. Don’t annoy our friends further. They are already in a period of mourning. Waumfwa?

    • Umuntu, we unlike those asian monkeys are human. I for one will only do business with them, but shall not consider them as a brother or sister, unless the know Jesus. Europeans are better, because with them we know who and what they are all about.

  1. Ati nelo mwalisumu wa ake $20 nabavyeta muli seacher. Lol. Anyways I feel for my brother man. I hope the culprits will be brought to justice

    • true but why do have African Zambians need one for NRC….ive always wondered what Indians,Westerns and Chinese put on their NRC

  2. MY WISH IS THAT HE IS STILL ALIVE. I FEEL FOR HIM AND HIS FRIENDS AND RELATIVES. I HOPE THE WORST HASN’T HAPPENED TO HIM. MAY GOD JEHOVAH BE WITH HIM.

  3. I LIVE IN JHB. I AM INTERNET ADDICT. EVERY DAY CROOKS ARE POSTING FAKE PICS OF CARS ON INTERNET. PLS IF YOU WANT TO BUY ANYTHING PLS NEVER USE INTERNET. I DROVE THE OTHER ZAMBIAN GUY FROM JHB TO MIDRAND CENTURION ONLY TO DISCOVER THE ADDRESS GIVEN DOESNT EXIST . IT WAS BUSHY. FOR THE FIRST TIME I DROVE THE CAR AT 150KM/H IN THE 60 KM/H ROAD…WE HAD ALREADY GIVEN THE DISCRIPTION OF OUR CAR.
SORRY FOR THE GUY. IN S.A DONT TRUST ANY ONE EVEN THE COMPANY. ITS A GOOD COUNTRY WHERE THE FITTEST SURVIVE AND FOR CLEVER PEOPLE ONLY.

  4. You in our prayers brother. Please find your way home safe, sound & in one piece. GOD lead you out of any trouble you might be in.

  5. Nowhere in our constitution is Zambian citizenship dependent on one having a tribe. He is Zambian, period. I’m not not even sure why I have to clarify this to these tribal PF supporters have no regard for the constitution and only see things through a tribal lense.

We hope that he is fine and well and will be traced.

  6. South Africa is beautiful and safe. I lived in four ways for 5 years safely. In Zambia in Roma I was mobbed and got attacked by Zambian lawyers even if Indian origin and they stole my two vehicles and all households using policemen jeep and Harriet. Whilst I used to drive a Benz and bmw in four ways and never got smacked. It’s Zambians who followed him to RSA.

    • @13 Rsa, no Lawyer worth their salt in Zambia would physically attack you steal a simple car from you! May be you are a crook who was dealing with equally shady people and when they outsmarted you or threatened you ran away! You might have even been owing them so they wanted recover their dues.Be assured, most Asians (Indians,Pakistanis,Chinese,Indonesians,Thais) and Arabs (Egyptians,Lebanese) that are in Zambia, including Whites and other races live there freely!! Most of them are better of in Zambia than their own countries that is why they have stayed. The majority of Asians and Lebanese use Zambia to get citizenship for easier mobility as stated @ 12.2 Shot-put. Which could explain why you are now in South Africa, possibly looking to go to the USA,UK,Canada

  7. He was swindled. They have to look for the person he was doing business with. Maybe the business does not exist. I hope they will find him alive.

  8. Sajjad is my friend and has been for over 15 years! This is a very difficult period. Its not time for jokes guys!!! He’s as much Zambian as any of you. Please pray for his safety and comfort for his family and friends.

  9. The comments from some bloggers on this forum just show that we have lost the sense of what is appropriate or inappropriate. As someone who once lost a parent only to discover them dead, I find the comments about this missing gentleman appalling to say the least. Have a human face people! If you have nothing to say please keep quiet. Whatever happened to us Zambian? Either the country has gone to the dogs or the dogs have come the country! On second thoughts I shouldn’t be so disrespectful to the dogs considering some of the comments on here.

  10. Anything can happen to anyone anywhere. Even in Zambia such things happen: a brother of mine was high jacked and dumped in the bush by people who were selling him a car in the papers. Let us just pray for the safety of our brother. Our dear God preserve the soul of our brother!

  11. Hopefully he can be found and alive. In South Africa, you are safer driving a purchased vehicle in convoy with others or else the same fellows may get it back somehow.

  12. Sajjad Ahmed Abassi’s body has been found in Roodepoort Johannesburg. Reports reaching us are that he was shot dead. The brother has identified the body. Police investigations have intensified to get the truth of what really happened.

  13. I’m a Zambian. It’s such a shame to see such attitude. After all were all human. What’s the colour of skin got to do with this? If you put a Zambian, Indian and English together they’re all the same. Take the skins off and you won’t be able to differentiate who’s who. You wouldn’t be talking if it were a friend or family so why be negative towards someone you don’t know if? Not like you have to pay to sympathise. Absolutely disgusting attitude! We’re all here for a purpose, we come empty handed and leave empty handed.
