Zesco resume league title defence

Zesco, Zanaco, Power Dynamos and Nkana are all in league action on Wednesday as they seek respective wins to take into Saturday’s 2016 Barclays Cup semifinals.

In the Barclays semifinals, Nkana will face Zanaco while Zesco will play Power at Arthur dDavies Stadium in Kitwe.

But before that, defending leagues champions and four-time Barclays Cup winners Zesco will be in action at home when they host Lusaka Dynamos at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

This will be Zesco’s first league game in exactly a month since they beat relegated Mufulira Blackpool 2-1 way on September 11.

Zesco are 5th with seven games in hand as they start to play catch-up following their 2016 CAF Champions League semifinal exit a fortnight ago.

Leaders Zanaco who are seven points ahead of second placed Nkana on 61 and 54 points respectively take the short trip from Sunset Stadium to Nkoloma to face their Lusaka rivals Red Arrows.

Nkana on the other hand are away to face first-timers and resurgent Lumwana Radiants who are coached by their ex-trainer Beston Chambeshi.

Lumwana are unbeaten in their last five games with three straight wins while Nkana are stuttering with just one win and a draw from their last four games.

Meanwhile, 3rd positioned Power who have 52 points are in Mufulira to play Blackpool.

Power are seeking their first win aftertwo straight league defeats.
