Opposition concerned with ECZ’s failure to pay suppliers

Share

The opposition Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD)  has expressed concern at the Electoral Commission  of Zambia’s (ECZ) failure to pay suppliers and other service providers who provided the them with various goods and services during the just past general elections.

FDD Spokesperson Antonio Mwanza said the commission should explain to the nation why they are failing to pay suppliers when the election was budgeted for in the preceding National budget and that international cooperating partners contributed collosal sums of money for a smooth election process.

“We are concerned that the Electoral Commission of Zambia has to date failed to pay suppliers and other service providers who provided various goods and services to the Commission during the last elections despite the fact that money for the entire election process was budgeted for in the National Budget.”

“ECZ has maintained that it has failed to pay because the Ministry of Finance has not given the Commission the money,” he said.

He said the Minister of Finance should give a Ministerial statement to explain why ECZ is not paying suppliers adding that the non payment of suppliers was negatively impacting the concerned business houses.

“The Minister of Finance should give a Ministerial Statement as to why ECZ is not paying suppliers  and other service providers despite money for such being factored in the 2015/16 National Budget.

“Non payment of suppliers is negatively impacting on concerned business houses as they are now lacking the necessary revenue to grow and sustain their businesses.”

  3. Even contractors of government so called development infrastructure have not been paid for more than six months. This government is broke. Truth be told. MCS embarked on headless chicken like infrastructure developments without financial planning. That’s why we are in this mess. Putting up unnecessary roads in areas like Muchinga Province with vehicle traffic of say one vehicle per hour on the road. 2 to 3 universities in one area when the whole country managed with two universities for decades.

  4. It’s because the same suppliers are pf members kikiki fdd don’t be daft . That is how they rigged

  5. Should Antonio take into account the fact that the country was held to ransom by two rich selfish people? Nothing happened during that time.

  6. The truth is Hakashide and GBM have filthy hands in some Companies which were contracted to ECZ thinking they are so smart by using their Concubines as Business Owners to supply various services e.g. Transport that is why their headless Cadrers kept chasing and obstructing distribution of Elections Materials in desperation of protecting Votes.
PF were so smart and Dununad them Pants Down.
