Lungu arrives at the Woodlands Forest Reserve
for the National Day of Prayers
Thousands of people today gathered at the Woodlands Forest in Lusaka to observe the 2016 National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance and Reconciliation.
And President Edgar Lungu said the proposed creation of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and National Guidance is part of government’s efforts to champion the Christian values in society.
Mr Lungu reaffirmed that Zambia shall continue to remain a Christian nation as declared by late President, Fredrick Chiluba, and enshrined in the preamble in the national constitution.
The President further urged Zambians to always seek God’s guidance, saying the One Zambia One Nation motto is the faith proclamation of the goal of having a united and prosperous Zambia.
The Head of State said this in Lusaka today during the 2016 National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance and Reconciliation.
The 2016 National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance and Reconciliation is being held under the theme “Promoting Reconciliation and Healing, Celebrating Unity in Diversity”.
President Lungu thanked the National House of Prayer Advisory Board for the successful hosting the 2016 national day of national prayer to seek divine intervention for the country.
Mr Lungu later led congregant’s for the National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance, and Reconciliation in the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of the 10,000-seater National House of Prayer.
Mr Lungu said the ground breaking ceremony signifies the desired goal of actualising the national day of prayer and recommitment of the nation to God.
The President has since called on all Zambians to fully support the construction of the National House of Prayer.
And in his homily, Bishop Boniface Shonga of Kabwe Chapel said it is the responsibility of every Zambian to seek the will of God if the country is to prosper in its key economic sectors.
Bishop Shonga urged Zambians not to relent in seeking the will of God once encountered with various challenges that affect their wellbeing.
And National House of Prayer Advisory Board Chairperson, Joshua Banda, said the board remains committed to help sustain the Christian duty in the country by ensuring that the sanctuary is constructed.
Bishop Banda also said the board remains committed to ensure that the 10,000-seater sanctuary serves to fulfil its realisation of the national ideals of Christianity.
First Republican President, Kenneth Kaunda, Fourth Republican President, Rupiah Banda and First Lady, Esther Lungu attended the day of national prayer.
Others who attended the National Day of Prayer were Speaker of the National Assembly, Patrick Matibini, Secretary to Cabinet, Roland Msiska, Defence and Security Chiefs, Senior Government officials and many people from all walks of life.
lungu is a lost man. One doesnt need to create a ministry and cost us millions just to champion his personal christianity value. You lack any integrity. It seems the sinners are the ones that hide behind religion to cover up their crooked deeds.
I pray for undernourished children of Zambia.
National House of Prayer in the Forest. Sounds more like a witchcraft shrine.
Total waste of resources, all the prayers by the hypocrites in their won’t go beyond the roof. You can fool your selves, not God.
Some one must correct this phrase “Zambia is a Christian nation” to “Zambia is a Christian nation which accommodates other religions”. Can you imagine how many people of different religions feel sidelined when one says that Zambia is a Christian nation?
Again, on the building of House of Prayer…. Bishop Banda, I feel this Bishop is now blinded by the millions he’s been seeing at state house, clearly he would have used 1 Chronicles 28:3 to advise Lungu
MOCKING GOD INDEED. YOU KNOW VERY WELL THE EVIL YOU DO UNDER THE COVER OF THE DARK. YOU HAVE STOLEN SOMEONE’S POWER. YOU HAVE INCACERATED MANY OF OUR PEOPLE FOR THE IDEOLOGY THEY BELIEVE IN, THAT OF HAVING A FREE AND LOVING ZAMBIA. WHAT RECONCILIATION? YOU CONTINUE TO DEMONIZE THE TONGAS, YET YOU STILL SING YOUR LIP-SERVICE OF RECONCILIATION. LET’S JUST WAIT FOR THE LORD TO JUDGE ZAMBIA. ENOUGH OF THE LIES AND HYPOCRISY.
no one demonizes tongas. its just that they are demons…..
HH didn’t even reach 50% lol. You need Jesus yourself.
Gullibility and credulity are considered are considered undesirable qualities in every aspect of human life- except religion!
From the strange to the bizarre. In the 21st Century…
POWER WILL NEVER TAKE LUNGU ANYWHERE. HE IS ALREADY FAILING TO SOLVE PROBLEMS IN THE COUNTRY. POWER DID NOT TAKE CHILUBA AND SATA ANYWHERE but six foot under
tell that to hh as well.
in fact tell that to all political players.
just do not exclude yourself…….
Really sad…how did we end up with such an utterly useless organism as a president?
Zambia will still remain a christian nation as long as the generation which wants to serve God are still not dead- May God almighty continue to bless Zambia. Long leave Edgar Chagwa Lungu.
Luke 15:7 NIV
I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.
9. Luke 18:9-14 Then Jesus told this story to some who had great confidence in their own righteousness and scorned everyone else:“Two men went to the Temple to pray. One was a Pharisee, and the other was a despised tax collector. The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed this prayer: ‘I thank you, God, that I am not a sinner like everyone else. For I don’t cheat, I don’t sin, and I don’t commit adultery. I’m certainly not like that tax collector! I fast twice a week, and I give you a tenth of my income. “But the tax collector stood at a distance and dared not even lift his eyes to heaven as he prayed…
I am humbled, for havin a declaration of zambia as a christian nation coming to fullfillment, this reminds me of king solomon buildin a temple of God in Jerusalem n God dewlled in it.God has used our president to do this, may God be honoured.
Comment: LONG LIVE HIS EXCELLENCY, MAY GOD BE WITH YOU AND GUIDE YOU IN ALL YOUR GOOD WAYS AND JUDGE YOU ACCORDING TO YOUR WORKS.
