Share

National Restoration Party (NRP) President, Cosmo Mumba, has castigated some opposition political leaders for shunning the National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance and Reconciliation.

Mr Mumba said that it is sad that some political leaders stayed away from the National Day of Prayer because of political differences when the event is a platform which is non-political.

He said in interview that  the day was meant to forester unity in the country so that all can work together in the spirit of One Zambian One Nation in order for the nation to forge ahead.

“I appeal to all political parties to put aside their political differences and bring issues that will develop the country on the national tables and not for others to start politicking on it,” he said.

And Mr Mumba said the proposed creation of the new Ministry of Religious Affairs and National Guidance is expected to help the country to always call on God during trying moments.

He thanked President Edger Lungu for declaring October 18 as a public holiday which is expected to be a tool of unity for Zambians regardless of their political affiliation.

He thanked members of the public who attended the National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance and Reconciliation to continue playing for the country for it to stabiles economically.

The National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance and Reconciliation was held today under the theme, “Promoting Reconciliation and Healing, Celebrating Unity in Diversity,” at woodlands Forest Reserve in Lusaka today.

  1. Cosmo you are a lost goat. Please prayers are not mandatory. Some of us prefer to work hard towards what we want to achieve rather than leaving it in the hands of some superficial being. Lungu has been praying since last year, please tell me one thing he has achieved since that time apart from causing more poverty and fattening his inner circles. please cosmo find a day job rather than clowning around.

    • @NEZ you are a very typical UPND cult member, like HH you vilify and call ugly names to anyone who opposes UPND. This clearly is very dictatorial, just like Hitler would have it. The unshakable belief that no one is right except you and that the whole world revolves around your opinion and that there are no alternatives to what you think and beleive. That’s why you insult and are full of bitterness instead of clearly expressing your opinion … a very timid small mind indeed…shame

    • oh so i should accept everything you are saying, including what lungu is saying because by accepting your opinion then that is not dictatorial? kikiki gerrout of here iwe

    • Christianity is not a forcing matter. If people don’t want to attend they are free to do so. What if they do not believe in Christianity? Even the Bible says not everyone, who cries LORD! LORD! will enter the kingdom of God.

    • Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day; teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime; give a man religion and he will die praying for a fish.

PRAYERS ARE GIVING FALSE HOPE TO THE POOR ZAMBIANS!

    • @NEZ,there two who we should not waste commenting on; Cosmo Mumba ( chief dancer at government functions) and Tayali !!! No relevance in political dispensation. Politicians of the belly!!!!

  2. “…because of political differences when the event is a platform which is non-political.”…

Then Lungu, who is a POLITICIAN, should refrain from getting involved in RELIGIOUS matters!

But we all know this is just his way to try and legitimise himself.

    • The very fact that a roll call is made as to who has attended and who not makes it political! Prayer is individual conviction and is not supposed to be forced on anyone! The national day of prayer belongs to the gullible public and those of little faith! Wonder why it is those from high density residential areas that pack the arenas?

    • Even as mr. Lungu was kneeling and pretending to be prayerful, there are so many people in our prisons held for alleged political crimes. If mr. Lungu was serious on national reconciliation, prayer and forgiveness, those political detainees should have been released as a gesture of reconciliation. Mr. Lungu is showing signs of being hard hearted. He is a very cruel man and Zambians have the right to be fearful.

  3. I eat and sleepy today. It’s my choice. I pray and fast for things I know and understand before my God. I can’t pray so that I kill my brother.

    • “If we go back to the beginning we shall find that ignorance and fear created the gods, that fancy enthusiasm or deceit adorned them, that weakness worships them, that credulity preserves them, and that custom respect and tyranny support them in order to make the blindness of men serve their own interests.”
      -Baron d’Holbach

  4. Since when did prayer become a show off or forced matter. God is far from you hypocrites. So ka Cosmo and your friends if you went there to impress Edgar you are just wasting your time. By the way you went there to reconcile with who?? All the prayers where just about praying for your presido, his wife and Tasila.

  5. Please Help. Has UPND ever attended a national day of prayer either under MMD or PF governments? Anyone with info please educate me

  6. UPND is a party for sat.antist full stop.
The problem with ba under5 is bitterness…
And what people must understand is that hh is a freemason.ry(anti christ) a person the devil is trying to use in these end times….A party with colour red which represents blood is bad….hh is on record before elections said he will come and cancel the day of national prayer and stop the building of the house of prayer…..Zambians UPND is a anti christ party.

    • AK 47 and all that are talking of HH exactly where is the reconcilliation in any of your blogs? you evil bunch of hypocrites when will you ever stop? you can bluff the uneducated but many of us see through you; does the bible not tell us to make peace with our bretheren before we go and kneel down before him? your kind of peace is harrasment and tear gas so put that in your pipes and smoke it;

  7. as for NAREP. THEY ARE A NONETY KANTEMBA PARTY LICKING BOOTS JUST TO EAT AS THE ECONOMY IS GETTING HARSHER. PRAYER IS NOT A FORCED ISSUE.

  8. I cannot follow you Christians; for you try to crawl through your life upon your knees, while I stride through mine on my feet.
    – Charles Bradlaugh

  9. I didn’t hear someone praying for reducing fuel prices why? praying should go with improving the lives of people especially in chienge where they have never seen a road twapapata bapangileniko umusebo.

  10. Going through all the comments one can see the hate people have for Zambia and God. There’s nothing wrong with praying and setting today as a day of national prayer, Muslims have month of Ramadan and no one criticize them. Government is not forcing anyone to pray and fast so if you don’t feel like doing it there’s nothing wrong in keeping quiet than showing your ignorance.

  11. It’s between you and your God, for I know Jehovah is the only God that can heal our land if we humble our selves and pray.

  12. Reconciliation and healing our country. May I ask people who attended the so called prayer and fasting. How would you talk about God’s mercy when He (Jesus Christ) in Matthew 18:15- 18 “If your brother sins against you GO TO HIM show him his fault …, if he will not listen …, take one or two, so that every accusation may be upheld by the two testimony of two or more witnesses”. Has this use done? Why will you pastors fond of money want to ruin the gospel and the will of God by teaching people falsehood? Is is it true that people of Zambia are not Christians? The nation is divided and no one is willing to look at this but want to use force.

  13. PLEASE YOU CONFUSED REPORTERS, NRP AND NAREP ARE TWO DIFFERENT PARTIES! SCHOOL IS MAKING YOU MORE DULL NOWADAYS? YOU DONT EVEN KNOW THE PRESIDENT OF NAREP! IF YOU KNEW YOU WOULDN’T WRITE COSMO MUMBA AS PREIDENT OF NAREP, WHEN HE IS PRESIDENT OF NRP!

  14. 450 Prophets offered prayers on Mt Carmel, what happened? The answer is found in 1 Kings 18:26-29, I shudder to think that you had fewer but prophets similar to the 450 in conduct and belief. If God ears your prayers, why is fuel price sky diving? Why is the cost of living the way it is?
