President Edgar Lungu should allow State House staff to be investigated on allegations of corruption as speculations seem to indicate that several people surrounding him are involved in the scourge says MMD
The MMD has charged that if his pronouncement on the fight against corruption is to be taken seriously investigations should begin at State House.
In a statement MMD National Secretary Rapheal Nakacinda said his Party welcomes the President’s position on corruption but that he should let the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and other investigative wings to crack down on staffs at State House who are alleged to be involved in corrupt activities.
And Mr Nakacinda said it is disheartening to see a Head of State lament so bitterly about the ineptness of the institutions charged with the responsibility to guard against the abuse of public offices and resources.
“As MMD we are strongly in full support of the strongest position on corruption because we have never heard President Lungu lament the way he did,” Mr Nakachinda said
He commended President Lungu for categorically restarting the significant fight against corruption in a time when Zambians have lost hope.
Mr Nakachinda noted that many people have suggested that State House also requires a clean-up if the fight against corruption would be meaningful.
“We want to urge the President that he must de-insluate State House from investigations as speculations seem to suggest that perhaps several people surrounding the President have abused their offices.”
” just weeks ago the Deputy S.G for the Patriotic Front was in the media informing the nation that several committees that were formed to campaign for the President have been corruptly collecting money in the name of the President and the party.” Mr Nakacinda pointed out.
Mr Nakacinda also noted that for the President to lament the way he did then he has been overwhelmed with the corruption taking place in the country as he is privy to sensitive information.
He also charged that ACC were a disappointment as they have not done their work on the reports by citizens such as the corruption at Food Reserve Agency (FRA) which led to the sharp increase of the country’s staple food.
“He wondered on whether the ACC were also chewing the curd together with the suspects.”How surely can an institution meant to safeguard institutions from graft fail to avail a Head of State with reports?” Mr Nakacinda questioned.
He added that people will only take President Lungu seriously if he is seen to be acting on his pronouncement as opposed to just issuing statements.
“The President’s call must be respected and supported by all well meaning Zambians and a strong and revitalised fight against corruption will boost and attract investment,” he said.
The MMD National Secretary was commenting on the statement by the President that there is too much corruption taking place and that the ACC were doing their job.

Good observation nakachinda. Corruption must be cremated everywhere it exist. Actually it is this same corruption that made someone rich and now he thinks he qualify to be head of state.

Lungu is “Mr Corruption” himself. From embezzling a clients cash, leading to the revoking of his Lawyers license to plundering the Eurobond, one is more likely to come across a hen with teeth, than Chagwa actually kickstarting a crusade against corruption like late Mwanawasa.

Edgar looks like a fuzi but I can tell you he’s ruthless. He only wanted a reelection and that’s why he kept relics like Alexander Chikwanda. Just wait and you’ll see what’s he’s made of. Corrupt people whether you’re Kambwili or whatever will hate him. He won’t care about “popularity “he’ll just sweep the floor clean. Just wait for the formation of new parties by the “disgraced ” ministers.

We are not sure which MMD Raphael represents because both MMD presidents are absent. One is pretending to be with us in the UPND and is now bosom friends with the outgoing losing presidential candidate HH. The other is now Minister. Having said that corruption has killed us and at times when you try to clean up the suspects wave the victimization card. Ok lets get serious the son to the late MCS surely can he account for his new found wealth and property?. George the former mouth piece for MCS, Kaizer, need we go on? Just investigate and if found wanting make them an example.
The sad thing is this rampart corruption is happening only two months after the election. And the PF supporters, who have been vehemently defending their party’s legitimacy in office, and those others who voted for them, how do you feel now that the people you wanted to be office are already caught up in this plundering of public resources? And remember these are not unfounded allegations, since ECL himself has said he has information that his ministers’ bank accounts have suddenly started to fatten, and he knows that a lot of them are already actively engaged in corrupt activities. I like ECL he doesn’t lie. He said he had no vision, this was so during 2015 rule. he said will Duduma zambia reverse true to his words we are being Dudumed, economically, now he has promised to deal with the corrupt, watch the space.

And ECL is already showing that he really has no interest in pursuing these criminals stealing public funds. He may pretend that he’s outraged maybe to just try and impress IMF. If Lungu dillydallies on this very serious issue of corruption it will bring about his downfall sooner rather than later. Zambians have known for a long, long time that all corruptions amounting to millions and millions of dollars is all housed and administered in state house. Lungu must act now but he has a huge problem because he is the biggest culprit. Things are too bad for him and must be having sleepless nights.

How can he fight corruption when he’s a product of corruption itself? Rigging elections is corruption. He’s a fraud.And let him also make the ministers pay back the illegal salaries and allowances they got during the campaign period. If you have proof report the corrupt case to law enforcement agency instead of generalizing. We were made to believe that KK had stolen billions but after exhaustive investigations it was discovered that the man was as “poor ” as any common man. Just because a politician shouts at a rally that there’s corruption, you want to believe it’s true?
It puzzles me that people fail to see that Lungu is a genuine hypocrite and a very transparent one. The crime lords mentioned in the audit report are still free and busy spending their ill-gotten money unmolested by law enforcement despite Lungu pleading with them to take action. They can’t and won’t because it would be like asking a snake to swallow itself starting with its tail. They are all involved from the top right down to the bottom. When is it going to sink in that Zambia is literally being governed by thugs?
