ZESCO has restored power to all the seven provinces affected by yesterday’s power blackout caused by a system disturbance.

In a statement issued to the media, ZESCO Senior Marketing and Public Relations Manager, Mrs Bessie Banda said that power was restored to Copperbelt and North-Western Provinces by 16:00 hours yesterday, while Northern, Luapula, Muchinga, Eastern and parts of Central Provinces were back on supply in the early hours of Tuesday morning at 01.10 hours. The loss of supply was due to failure of some high voltage equipment at Kabwe substation due to a heavy down pour.

Two weeks ago five provinces were without power for 5-6 days. This was after a fault on the Kabwe-Pensulo 330KV transmission line presumably caused by lightning.

    • The news here should be how much they have compensated the victims.

This makes ZESCO look like they are doing a great job , when the news really is the reasons why they didnt provide a good service and compensation of the affected business and families.

      Thanks

    • Ati “ZESCO restores power in 7 provinces”!!!!

Marubbish! Here in Lusaka we still have LOAD SHEDDING for more than EIGHT HOURS a day!

Is that what Zesco considers “RESTORED POWER”???? Please no more of this BUULSH!T.

PF switched off the lights when they came to power in 2011. If Zambia is going to develop at all we need to kich these useless clowns OUT!!

Restored power will be when we have electricity 24/7 with NO INTERRUPTIONS. Until then PF and its cardres in Zesco have FAILED to do the job.

  1. THIS ASTRONOMICAL FAILURE INDEED!! How I WISH THE OPPOSITION COULD RAISE A SERIOUS POINT OF ORDER in PARLIAMENT and if possible SUMMON THE ZESCO MD to EXPLAIN WHAT IS HAPPENING? We need to GET SERIOUS with these chaps! NOW BESSIE BANDA who was reported fired is ISSUING STATEMENTS AGAIN,not that I have anything against her but that we wonder if it is true she was fired or if it is true she is the one who spoke this time around!!

  2. The opposition does not recognise the existence of the govt, so are powerless to quiz what doesn’t exist. They can’t even raise any point of order, bro bwafyaa. So as we see it, the opposition can’t bring Lungu’s govt to account on our behalf if in the first place Lungu’s govt does not exist to them. In finality – using the lens of the opposition – it can be said that the opposition itself does not exist as it’s existence is premised on the existence of a govt. Instead what we have in parliament are a set of zombies clad in party rigalia, with no motive to speak for their constituents.

    • Then there must be a way the citizenry can handle the matter why should it always be through a tepid parliament? National docility has many facets!

    • Just concentrate! It is not the opposition causing the blackouts. PF are totally responsible for this mess. And since PF control Parliament, the opposition cannot censure these ultra-incompetents running the govt.

  3. Kabwe – pensulo transmiision line was just bombed by hakainde and his thugs using explosives so that all the provinces which did not vote for him suffer. Stupid way of thinking by this son of a bitch.

  4. There is something very wrong happening at Zesco which we are not being told. The country is at risk at the moment as we cant be having blackouts affecting almost the entire nation and business seems to be normal for them after apologizing just like that. This should be taken as sabotage and it seems to come from within Zesco itself. The firing of those directors was not enough as the problem seems to be the entire co-operation.

    • If you believe that what you have at ZESCO are engineers and not just technicians then you have good reason to think something is wrong for a professional entity can not be so incompetent! Roll back to the UNIP leadership when technicians then were known to be the engineers Zambia never had this scale of electricity outages! An audit of who is who at ZESCO is a must! Who will be attracted to invest in a country where power is a major source of concern? The best we are hearing is advice that citizens invest in generators!

    • Next they will be holding national prayer days to solve these Man made problems.
ONLY IN CHAGWA’S DRUNKEN CORRUPT NATION!!

  5. ZESCO is under IDC which is chaired by the President. The IDC through its acting CEO Mateyo Kaluba recently dissolved the Zesco Board and since then Zambian citizens have been treated to mismanagement and bad corporate governance of unseen proportion. There is no way Mateyo Kaluba a civil servant who has no business experience can run an institution like IDC even on acting basis, if the Head of State is really serious about improving the performance of parastatals. Lets be serious with how things are done pa zed please. Mateyo and Mudende equals economic disaster, because you have clueless individuals manning strategic institutions ba Chagwa sure.

  6. Lightning strikes Pensulo station in Serene resulting in 6 days of black outs in 5 provinces. After that 5 Directors are fired. Next we hear an unknown group of people on days unknown plants explosives near zesco pylons. We are then told it’s HH who sent lightning to Pensulo. Barely two weeks down the line, 7 provinces are in a blackout, this time it’s Kabwe. Who can piece the plot? Only Robert Ludlum could, if he was still alive.
