Zambia’s Agriculture Minister Dora Siliya, this afternoon visited FEERUM S.A., a potential Polish company specialized in silos and grain dryers that intends to expand its businesses to Zambia.

The Minister accompanied by Zambian Ambassador to Poland resident in Berlin, Bwalya Chiti was taken on a guided tour of the company’s production hall, warehouses, research and development training facility (silo complex) as well as a milling plant, Mlynpol

Last November, FEERUM S.A was among other potential Polish companies that had participated during the Trade Mission to Zambia that was conducted by the Zambian Mission in Berlin in collaboration with the Polish Chamber of Commerce (KIG) and the Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI).

FEERUM S.A. has indicated readiness to construct 10 complex silos in 10 identified locations around the country at a total storage capacity of 250,000 tons along with 2 corn milling plants.
Agriculture Minister, who was visibly impressed with the scope of the works being carried out by the company, indicated that the Zambian Government is committed to food storage and the implementation of such a project would serve the country well.

The Minister said this during a meeting held with FEERUM S.A. President Daniel Janusz at the Company’s Headquarters in Chojnow, Poland right after her tour of the factory and the milling plant.
Minister Siliya expressed happiness at FEERUM S.A. interest to set up its business in Zambia, and remained hopeful that the company will soon invest in Zambia.

She explained that Zambia was one of the largest producers of grain in the Southern region with about 20% of its produce going to waste due to lack of proper storage facilities. “The country is in no doubt interested in the food storage facilities and milling plants, and indeed with such improved storage facilities, Zambia can position itself as the largest exporter of Maize in the region, “ the Minister said.

The Minister further highlighted that Zambia had prioritized the Agriculture sector and it was the Zambian government’s wish to continue to witness an increased maize production.
The Minister encouraged Mr. Janusz to invest in Zambia and further assured him of her Ministry’s full cooperation and support on the proposed project for Zambia till a successful implementation of the same.

And FEERUM S.A. President Janusz indicated his company’s readiness to construct the 10 storage facility silos and 2 milling plants in Zambia, and further informed that the Polish government was ready to finance the whole project.

“As a company, we are more than ready to invest in Zambia and provide the storage facilities silos that Zambia needs. With the silos once constructed, the Zambian farmers will be encouraged to produce more,” said Janusz.

The Agriculture Minister undertook the visit following recommendation by the Zambian Mission in Berlin that she visits FEERUM S.A. production facility and silos during her visit to Berlin to attend the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture as well as the 9th Agriculture Ministers’ Conference from 19th January – 25 January 2017.

FEERUM S.A., located in a Polish town of Chojnow, approximately two and half hours drive from Berlin, is a Polish company that prides itself being the biggest player in the European market that specialises in production of silo complexes and grain dryers.

    • Yet that Lazy thing Lungu was disappointed about evounchers last week in Chipata, yet the minister is out and about…can they PS not do this? Or is she negotiating kickback like the did with those solar hammers worth $200m….if you would silo manufacturers why not advertise?

    • ministers are emulating the chief kamwendo chakolwa lungu.they are enjoying our money.time will come, they will pay back ba kolwe…

  1. Who is going to pay for the construction…FEERUM or ZAMBIA.
An interest is an interest but where is the COMMITMENT old saying seeing is believing. I pray they commit. Then we must benefit equally… why not encourage them to commit through PPP (private public partnership)
Lets get all investors to share with Zambians then not all profits leave the country. Please

  2. Good but…..she will be the biggest beneficiary in kick backs. Tunnel vision approach to manage the industry where personal interests get in the way. The best money making career now is PROCUREMENT! Not sure if ministry directors are aware of what Dora is doing. A get worried when the entire minister is soliciting for suppliers of certain goods and services. This smells of corruption like what happened with Air Traffic Monitoring Equipment when she was transport minister. This amounts to abuse of office and flouting of tender procedures!

  3. Already out of the country, its rainy season and she is out there looking for ways to get kickbacks for Lazy Lungu and RB.

  4. DORA MUST BE VISITING FARMERS RAVAGED BY ARMY WORMS AND SHORTAGE OF INPUTS IN ORDER TO CORRECT THE SITUATION. THE TOUR SHE HAS UNDERTAKEN IS MEANT FOR PERMANENT SECRETARIES AND THEIR TECHNOCRATS WHO WILL BE ABLE TO ASSIMILATE THE TECHNOLOGY AND EXCHANGE NOTES WITH THEIR COUNTERPARTS IN POLAND WITH THE VIEW OF BRINGING THE SAME TECHNOLOGY BACK TO MOTHER ZAMBIA.
UNFORTUNATELY MOST OF OUR MINISTERS ARE JUST TOURISTS AS EVIDENCED BY THE WAY THEY LIKE POSING FOR PHOTOS.

  5. South Africa has all this technology. One does not need to go as far as Poland to see agro storage and handling facilities. She only has to subscribe or buy “Farmers’ Weekly” a South African publication produced everyweek to read on the diversity of agro solutions available to any serious person interested in the sector. South Africa is a leading nation in most agro solutions in a climate similar to ours, and all the materials for use are readily available and suited to our environment. Clearly shows that we do not have any serious R&D in our agriculture. Sad for us for spending huge sums of money in airfares to see solutions far away when they are already nearby here!!

    • Willombe give these tourists advice. South African farming can give Zambia cheaper lessons but Lungu sponsors Dora’s shopping in Europe when he should be using that money to fight army worms

  6. let us be serious please. There are capable zambians who can build silos. Put Zambia first and Buy Local. let us challenge ourselves that we can do it as Zambians. Lets us take a leaf from Donald Trump and the Americans. Yes we can…….
Am a scale scale farmer and doing it a purely zambia way….. no debts in my farming…….

    • Most of the those educated f.o.ols( Engineers) capable of building silos are lazy….busy like writing articles on social media. Complaining day in and out

  7. @Pf mpika cadre….. and you are so occupied you have time to blog as well……..b4 u write follow logic
We Zambians talk too much and work too little. WE cause social problems. Find work for our men so our women don’t have to demean tnemselves to put vood on the table…. our culture must progress….yes culture can change

  8. @Pf mpika cadre….. sorry I just saw your previous statement you are correct….. most investors not aware of of our load shedding. Building silos etc reqires6 welding..welding requires POWER…POWER we don’t have..investment is then limited… so we depend on LOANS why did we invest in roads and not power….we zambians like kwik deals…progress takes time.. unfortunately poverty causes that,,,understandably… Vicious circle

  9. B4 we take investors money please look at their political situation, turkey has huge terrorism problems, is Sputh Africa stable, Greece bankrupt, Poland financially stressed,, they all want to take money away from zambia., , maybe their social problems will come to us….. money/ loans/grants come with consequences….. let us be proud AFRICANS….

  10. Most countries have a trade office in their overseas mission to source investment let us work that way. I love Zambia let us progress,,,,, self belief is wbat matters…. why are whites better than than us. WHY.. …. They are NOT, Becauze of colonialism we dont believe in ourselves.. Lets mature and stand up to the whites. Take their money/ investment but on OUR conditions.

    • You cant have successful investment by invitation, the investor must see the opportunity themselves,if indeed investment was by invitation Zambia would have been the most developed country by now judging by the travelling the former scrap metal dealers, tarven owner outright faud stars, etc have done just in the last 5yrs
