Share

President Edgar Lungu is tomorrow expected to arrive in Kasane, Botswana on a two days working visit.

Zambia’s high commissioner to Botswana Patrick Tembo told ZANIS in Kasane today that Mr. Lungu is expected to arrive in that country around 15.00 hours.

Brigadier General Tembo said the President will be received by his Botswana counterpart Ian Khama.

President Lungu is later in the evening expected to attend a dinner hosted in his honour  by his host.

On Tuesday the two heads of state will  be briefied on progress so far made on the Kazungula Bridge project before touring the construction site on both the Zambian and Botswana sides where they will also receive onsite briefings.

High commissioner Tembo said the two leaders will  also discuss issues surrounding delays on the bridge construction project which they urgently want resolved so that the project is completed by 2019.

Brigadier general Tembo said the Kazungula bridge is an import project  for both countries as it will  greatly facilitate trade not only for Zambia and Botwana but the entire southern African region.

The construction of road and rail bridges across the Zambezi River into Zambia will  solve the  problems that have been associated with the age long breakdown-prone ferry bridge

  1. Great. We need to visit neighbours. When Bostwana was celebrating independence, Edgar Lungu was busy at home so he could not attend. Harry Kalaba represented the country. But as H.E. Lt Khama was only a few heads of state who attended Edgar’s inauguration, H.E Edgar Lungu needed to make up and pay an official visit.

  2. Mr Lungu, have you heard of webinars???? gosh, constantly on the move wasting tax payers money. Look at the deplorable conditions of basic infrastructure in the country, the money you gallivanting on can be used to clean up some of the trash in the country. Sir you are the only one in the world travelling at this rate, can’t wait for Trump to cut off all aid to Zambia, mwachilamo.

    • @4 MAYELA, FORGET ABOUT ANY SPELLING, GRAMMAR OR ANY MISTAKE IN LT. IT’S VERY NORMAL TO THEM. AND THIS JOURNALISM HAS GONE TO DOGS (OR IS IT THE DOGS THAT HAVE GONE TO JOURNALISM?) IN ZAMBIA. I ALMOST POINTED IT OUT BUT I JUST REMEMBERED THAT MISTAKES ARE NORMAL IN LT. I THINK THE DOG WROTE THE STORY AND GAVE IT TO THE PIG TO EDIT IT.

    • And you can take a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink!

All this travelling and has Lungu learned anything that is useful to the people of Zambia?

If he has, has he done anything about it? Besides imitating Mugabe that takes 6 million dollars of taxpayers money for his month holiday while his countrymen starve?

Is that what he has learnt?

  3. The AU in its 28th Summit Press Release does not recognize President Lungu as having been democratically elected during the 2016 Election. The Outgoing Chairman of AU and President Idriss Derby of Chad “warmly welcomed the newly elected Presidents of Gambia,Ghana,Sao-Tome and Principe and Seychelles, who won through a democratically elected process organized in their respective countries”. This Statement excludes Zambia and means that AU does not recognize President Lungu’s Presidency becoz he was not democratically, lawfully and Constitutionally elected. As such President Lungu is considered Illegitimate by AU. Does it mean President Ian Khama recognises Lungu while the AU has de-recognised him?Based on Constitutionalism Khama, Zuma and Magufuli have recognised President Adama Barrow of…

  4. Since President Khama graced Lungu’s illegal inauguration he might offer some advice on how to resolve the Petition issue. Khama has publicly recognised President Adama Barrow of Gambia based on Constitutionalism. He may advise Lungu on how to navigate the Petition issue and restore legitimacy. It would help Lungu if Khama could use his influence in SADC to get the Petition resolved and his legitimacy restored. AU with influence from Ecowas seems to be getting tough on Lungu. So President Khama could help Lungu in his quest to stay in power. Tough times ahead.

    • You go and camp in West Africa and let your foolish allies try anything stupid on Zambia – you will see what we can do to fools. You think the Gambia situation is the same as the Zambian elections – only stupidity will make people think like that.

  5. Ishamo lyesu. This guy must knows all to well how people are suffering in Zambia, I mean he is from Chawama or Chabipa. WTBF is wrong with him?

  6. Next time tell us how much this army worm has earned from travel allowance so that we can calculate how many poor children his selfish ugly face has disadvantaged. Lungu is a rat’s testicle

  7. I recommend that Lungu starts using mazhandu whenever he travels within the region. I will personally pay for his tickets kikiki

  8. Lazy Lungu on the move…the only good for nothing President who has time on his hands to stay 2 days or more as he is a lazy man!!

  9. Edgar Lungu should be worried becoz the Ecowas dominated AU does not recognize the President of Zambia as having been democratically elected in the August 2016 Election.Contrary to Propaganda, I was surprised to read this in the AU Press Release on the 28th AU Summit recently held in Ethiopia from January 30-31, 2017. Lungu’s idea of stealing the Vote and then quickly inaugurating himself in power is backfiring as the AU considers his Re-Election flawed, unlawful and unconstitutional. Illegitimate Lungu has no choice but to regularise his re-election. That means the Petition has to be heard, determined and a Winner declared by the Court. What is docile and spineless SADC doing about Lungu’s illegitimacy? We hope President Khama will assist Lungu in his quest to restore his legitimacy…

    • SADC is an impotent organisation with shriveled balls and depleted testosterone. SADC has four of Africa’s heartless dictators. It has been accepted as normal.

  10. Why is the Zambian media lying to us when in their Communique or Press Release say the outgoing Chairman of AU President Idriss Derby of Chad “warmly welcomed the newly elected Presidents of Gambia,Ghana,Sao-Tome and Principe and Seychelles, who won through a democratically electoral process organized in their respective countries”. It follows therefore that AU does not consider President Lungu democratically, lawfully and Constitutionally elected. Does SADC contradict AU’s Stance on the outcome of the Zambian 2016 Elections? Khama,Magufuli and Zuma have publicly recognised President Adama Barrow of Gambia based on Constitutionalism. What is SADC’s Stance on Zambia in the light of AU’s de-recognition of President Lungu of Zambia? Khama should impress on Lungu to allow the Petition to…

  11. its good the President visits these nations for the benefit of us Zambians…but the question i have is ‘when last did we hear that a certain President is visiting Zambia apart from those who come to officiate at trade fair and commercial show? This is worrisome mwe.

  12. The unrecognized head of state successfully managed to get a seat for Zambia as a commissioner! I also think a pilot who has low flying time must be flying a fleet that is not busy if one is at Emirates the best airline in the world that’s a different story …..

  13. The chickens are coming home to roost for Lungu. Ecowas and AU have already de-recognised Lungu becoz he was not democratically, lawfully and Constitutionally elected in August 2016. If SADC follows the footsteps of Ecowas and AU can Lungu go it alone and survive? To accept hearing the Petition is suicidal for Lungu becoz Petitioners have Water Tight evidence showing that Lungu never won the Election and let alone meeting the 50% + 1 vote threshold. With Chulu announcing untallied figures,No Gen12 forms, Chavulas of this World rigging infavour of Lungu in the ECZ Computer Restricted Room etc the evidence is plenty. Can Lungu defy AU and SADC and block the Petition Hearing and go it alone? If Lungu does so it will be interesting to see if SADC can do an Ecowas on him. Jammeh is watching…
