Special assistant to the President for press and public relations Amos Chanda said a Japanese investor has been found to run the firm and will soon install state-of-the art machinery at the plant.
And Mr Chanda said in an interview yesterday that President Lungu has directed that all workers being owed money by the company are paid immediately.
He disclosed that Government has already released K5 million for the outstanding payments.
He has assured Kabwe residents that President Lungu has their interests at heart and will not let them down.
He said the Industrial Development Corporation and other relevant government agencies have initiated processes that will ensure that Mulungushi Textiles continues to be a viable entity
Mr. Chanda,
Do you REALLY expect anybody with functional brain to believe in your periodical misleading statements?
Please, can you for ONCE say the truth?
Why every time you answering to HH statements by promising proverbial “Pie in the Sky”?
Why you need HH to prompt you to inform the People of what has been done? Why secrecy?
People are FED-UP of your constant reference to HH. Who is in Government, PF or UPND?
PF and Govt, you are your own worst enemy when it comes to informing Zambian citizens. Sometimes be proactive! Always being caught unawares on things and issues you should be the first and the fore front educating and informing people about. And now you complain when someone else, in their “special” way does it for you?
What was so difficult for the Commerce Minister, or whoever that guy responsible for development and fimo fimo, to let the Country know about this development well in advance? I bet, probably this as come as a surprise even to residents of Kabwe. It wouldn’t be surprising if workers themselves didn’t know about this development. What the heck are you people paid for? Is it to wait for HH or someone else to speak so you can answer them?
This is a sign that pf cadres are following HH everywhere, be it Facebook, Twitter, hopscotch, whatsapp, flipboard, Google + and Zambian watchdog, this HH is good mwebantu.
Let Chanda go and say that to the people of Kabwe. You can’t run a country through deception.
PF bandits @ state house should leave HH alone & away from their visionless buffoonery of pathetic failures.
Mulungushi textile is closed~visionless Lungu used gimmicks to lure voters. Thousands of mine workers lost jobs & only 90 have been re~employed at blind Lungu’s lies of the NEVER created 500,000 jobs.
Leave HH alone PF from your own inflicted failure.
The Skeleton Key
~206~
Ba skelewu ubukopo. Since when did a textiles industry become a mining industry? I was going to accept or give you 40% if you said farmers, this shows the level of upnd zealots that they are all dunders.
The mulungushi story has been a common story for the past months and kabwe residents are happy about it. Even your tribal leader knows it that’s why amos is saying he is confusing you. For you choose to be mislead than hear the truth.
Daily nation reported it as a korean company…malvorn.. googled and nothing
During presidential campaigns, mulungushi was put on a oxygen machine, even a mini rally was organized at the same place, we saw pf cadres trying to work on some spinning machines on deadNBC, after 11 August deadNBC has never gone back to show the public what is happening at mulungushi textiles, we would have loved to see not only amos chanda on deadnbc news but a follow-up at the plant as well, and where did deadNbc get the news that HH had said that mulungushi is closed? Because we never saw him come on deadnbc to say that, sometimes when you watch deadnbc and see someone responding to something, you starting asking yourself when did HH say this and where.
Stupid Amos rubbish
“And Mr Chanda said in an interview yesterday that President Lungu has directed that all workers being owed money by the company are paid immediately” that people of Kabwe will not be in despair?? Ndeloleshafye
There is no investors. PF ministers and caders with contracts to supply the army , police, schools and other insitutions that wear uniforms from China and SA will not allow this plant to open…
Those that voted PF in kabwe, music pleas
Dununa reverseeeeeeeee ye eeeeeeee…..
This state house, anything HH says they have to answer. Like kids ka. They fear HH so much but anyway you can understand they got almost equal number of votes with him in the last elections. So each time HH says something as PF we always panic
Ba UPND you are really bad! can Zambia be entrusted to you blood suckers? Never lest we become like Somalia or Sierra Leon where humans are treated like animals!
Deceiption at its best, Just from the timing, August 1 of 2016 10 days before elections one can see that that so called reopening was politically motivated. This is the dark side of ECL and his PF. They took advantage of the poverty and economic deprivation of people in Kabwe and cheat them of work in exchange for their vote. The people gave them the vote only to be left stranded. This conduct by our leaders in the so-called christian nation is devilish and must be condemned using the strongest words possible. God will bless the one who takes care of the weak and the poor, but will certainly punish the wicked who take advantage of the poor.
Annoyed Zambian, these people of Kabwe should have known better that the Textile was not ready to be opened and the people who posed as workers where just foolish cadres paid to pull that stunt. Its high time people opened their eyes to these politicians. I want to hear the PF famous song of “Dununa Reverse” being sung in Kabwe until the next general elections…
Whether HH said or implied it , I feel and think its the right thing for him to do. As an opposition leader, that’s is what we expect of him. People in government are humans also and are enjoying in comfortable zone, so the job of an opposition is to make them feel the “heat” and do their job. Thanks HH, our future president for doing your job and making yourself relevant to the Zambian politics. What ever Lungu admiration promised Zambians before the August 2016 election, please follow it up and expose them so that they deliver for the betterment of our mother Zambia. Thank you.
PF / MMD Pact please have faith in Zambians, they have what it takes to manage that company if recruited on merit or invest in it individually or collectively. See the wonderful officiating job done by Jan Sikazwe at AFCON final match, Cameron vs Egypt. Is it Japanese or Korean or Tanzanian investors who officiated the match? Your deals of always looking for foreign investors will take you no where. The companies will only be working for six months & close. HH is talking about closure of the company, Chanda is talking about sourcing of onother investor. The question still remains unanswered, has the old investor closed the company or not before you inform us of onother investor you are recruiting. Why import Zambia Army, ZNS, etc, uniforms which can be produced locally by Mulungushi…
And Amos, what is misleading about someone saying the company has been ‘closed’ when you acknowledge that, “..govt has already released K5 million for the outstanding payments…”? and that, “…a Japanese investor has been found to run the firm and will soon install state-of-the art machinery at the plant?..”?
You are a very bad spin doctor.
Btw, when next we vote for the wooden pillock, don’t blame us because you will have proven that he is a better devil than you…!
TRUE ZAMBIAN
“…..Why import Zambia Army, ZNS, etc, uniforms which can be produced locally by Mulungushi…”
That very lucrative contract is held by several PF ministers who supply from China and SA. this includes the import of all safety clothing.
If manufactured locally they will lose out. They will not allow that to happen. That is the corruption in PF. Cartel intrests and enrichment take precedent over the country as a whole. These same cartels contribute to lungus dubious election victories hence the country and people are held at ransom.
So HH has so much power then, if it takes the whole State House to answer him, instead of the spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
If the textile com
pany is operational, can Amos tell us what the production figures are? Why is Government releasing money to pay people who are fully employed by the company? Amos, what is the total labour force figure at Mulungushi textile?
Rubbish PF. If H H said that Mulungushi Textile is closed, that is how every Zambian knows. H H said the truth. It is you who are misleading Zambians. Such immediate payment of former workers is being done because H H has spoken for the people. You pay them then H H will travel to Kabwe to tell the people that he is the leader who has their interest in his heart because he has made government pay them their dues.
tHANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR CAMPAIGNING FOR H H
What has happened to the Tanzanian investor who was selling fertiliser instead of revamping the textile.
PF told lies as per its core belief during elections that Mulungushi Textiles has been bought by a Tanzanian millionaire investor. What a load of pathological LIES.
I remember my relative in Kabwe getting a shock when PF was posing that Mulungushi was in operation. She had previously voted for PF that lie woke her up. Ba PF you can’t mock God!It is a sin to use God’s name in vain
A Japanese investor will install state of the art machinery!!!! So it was “opened” without machinery?? How was it operating upon “commissioning”????
If I buy the Mulungushi Textile Co. and I decide to sale to another buyer, is the Government to blame? It is possible that I have found the business not to be viable as earlier analysed. I can also keep it closed any the environment of business is favourable. The Government cannot bring about protectionist measures to protect the company belonging to one family and perhaps producing sub standard fabrics. Mulungushi should just forget about this socialist dinosaur of a company that thrived on UNIP protectionist policies so called import substitution that ended up feeding us products like Tarino. The way forward for Kabwe residents is to engage in other business ventures such as aquaculture and farming value chain. The government cannot force business men to operate companies that are as…
Good night UPNDonkeys.
Even if mulungushi is recapitalised who in zambia will be able to afford the fabric that is produced.
Why havent we looked at processong our cotton crops and using the cotton yarn to produce cotton fabric and apparel. Cotton is jn big demand in the diaspora. We have had a textile mill doing nothing for how many years now when it could have been utilized somehow.
But, if the chinese couldnt get it operational i wonder if any one can.
Does the govt actually own the factory and land.
