South Africa beats Cameroon 3-1 in CAF U-17 group B

South Africa came from behind to beat their opponents Cameroon by three goals to one.

The match that started with both teams showing the much needed desire to shake each other’s’ nets to ensure that they capitalize on group B’s first game that saw Senegal and Sudan drawing 1-1.

ZANIS sports reports that the young lions opened the score line in the 14th minute through Eric Ayuk Mbu but the young Indomitable Lions’ celebration was cut short after Luther Sigh scored the equalizer two minutes later.

In the 26th, minute, the 19 year old Sigh who also plays his professional football at Portuguese, Sporting Braga B put the Amagita in the lead after he nicely converted in a penalty.

South Africa doubled the lead in the 56th minute as Cameroon continued chasing the South African’s shadows.

South African which a lot of support from Zambian fans tops group B on three points with three goals.

The result took the number of goals scored at the ongoing tournament to seven goals.

And A 10-man Senegalese under -20 team has held their Sudanese counterparts to a 1-all draw match in a dramatic turn of events at Levy Mwanawasa stadium in the on-going Total AFCON under-20 tournament.

ZANIS sports reports from Levy Mwanawasa stadium that Senegal’s key striker Ibrahim Niane equalized in the 89th minute to deny the Sudanese of what the Senegalese fans present at Levy Mwanawasa stadium termed as a nearly stolen victory.

Earlier, in the first half of the game Egyptian Referee Ibrahim Nour El Din awarded Sudan a penalty in the 19th minute which was converted by Hassan Hassan, much to the displeasure of the local based Senegalese fans.

In the 15th minute of the first stanza the young Teranga Lions suffered a major setback after Referee red carded their captain Mamadou Diarra, a move that saw a change in the completion of the game.

Senegalese team who dominated play in the first half failed to utilise their chances as luck seemed to elude them each time they were on a counter attack.

The second half of the match saw an even more aggressive young Teranga Lions countering successive attacks from the onset and managed to hit the cross bar in the 59th minute through Ibrahima Ndiaye.

The match which saw a handful of soccer fans was also attended by Copperbelt Provincial Minister Bowman Lusambo and CAF President Issa Hayatou.

    In the 26th, minute, the 19 year old Sigh who also plays his professional …so what was this 19 year old doing in an U-17 tournament?
