Zambia smashed Mali 6-1 to reach the 2017 U20 AFCON semis and qualify to this May’s FIFA U20 World Cup in South Korea.

Beston ‘Quicksilver’ Chambeshi’s side is the first team at the tournament to reach the last four of the competition Zambia is staging from February 26 to March 12 and also pickup one of the four Africans tickets to South Korea.

A brace each from Edward Chilufya and Fashion Sakala plus a goal a piece from Enock Mwepu and Emmanuel Banda sent Zambia through to the March 8 semifinals.

However, Mali gave Zambia an early scare after Abdoul Dante headed-in the ball to give the West Africans the lead in the 3rd minute.

But their lead lasted just four minutes before Sakala nodded in the equaliser.

Banda then fired in a breathtaking volley from halfway inside Mali’s area in the 25th minute before Mwepu added the third in the 39th minute.

Chilufya them added two quick fire goals in the 49th and 52nd minutes before Sakala put the result beyond doubt in the 67th minute.

Zambia win Group A on maximum 6 points with a game to spare and wait to know their semifinal opponent from Thursday’s Group B matchups in Ndola.

Egypt, who face zambia in their last Group A match on March 4 in Lusaka, are second on two points while Guinea and Mali have a point each in 3rd and last respectively.

    • Someone say the party was only for traditional cousins from North Eastern Zambia!
Boys allow others also to give you their best shots …

    • Iyeeee Chipolopolo, Iyee Ba Zambia nalelo bawina chipolopolo … Iyeeeeeee Fipolopolo.

Congratulations, now get ready for the Pharaohs!!!

    • Am so nostalgic; these boys have just reminded me of how great a soccer nation we used to be! The senior should now understand that scoring goals is the only way to win and gain the respect of other teams- Judy imagine how their next opponent is feeling now!!!!

    • TRUE ZAMBIAN, I like your comment because it centers on the coach including his technical bench. We sgould always thank the techinical bench and the coach. Not when we win we says “the boys played, but when we lose we condem the coach!!!!!

    • Thank you for the update. Thank God for the imotvpemenr! I hope you can still make your trip to the rally. Love from stateside from all your brother and sisters, and especially your mother!!! Kiss Karen for us.

  3. NEZ will not comment, he’s just been circumcised and wearing a chitenge. I hope his thing gets septic so it can be chopped off!!

  4. How many times have we said reduce the number of bembas in the team. It has worked. I am not being naïve, trivial, petty or whatever. I am just stating something that has been scientifically proven today. I am not a tribalist, and not a racist like ka Mushota

  5. Ivi viba Bemba na va ku Eastern… bola vimwesa veka! Politics ati chimbuya, voting for each-other.

    WORLD CUP! HERE WE COME!!

  6. You will never go wrong always when you remember to thanks God and give him all the glory in your success! Go boys, go!

  7. So many lies in this report. Mali scored in the sixth minute not third. Zambia replied two minutes later not 4 minutes later. Zambia’s fourth goal was an own goal. Nowadays you reporters can’t cheat us because we can watch games from computers and TVs.

  8. CONGRATULATIONS JUNIOR CHIPOLOPOLO!!
This team is the beginning of bigger things to come in about 5 years from today.
    Bravo!!!

    • it's a known fact that drug dealers from Phipedallhia and elsewhere have fanned out to surrounding areas to sell the drugs. They then get into murderous conflict with the black gangstas from Newark or elsewhere, who have also fanned out to white areas to sell drugs. What isn't perhaps as well know in is the fact that black criminal groups (like the Junior Black Mafia) often work the drug trade with the Philadelphia Italian mafia family, which presumably services are more white clientele.

  9. A team full of Bembaz and Easterners you cannot go wrong with a Bemba coach too, coaches like LWANDAMINA have no place in zambian footbll because he is not a bemba or chipata fellow. Eatserners chase mbeba and bembas tukolwe thus why they play better but lozi’s just chase sand. I urge the Local organising committee to check the age for these zambian boys, it seems they are cheating again , its very clear that most of them are above 24yrs old even one can tell by kulolesha chivungo chalinacho munthu

    • Hahahahahahahahahah! You made my day! Chivungo starts changing at around 10 to the teens age so don’t judge people like that, you will always be wrong. A 18 to 20yrs old is a grown person and capable of raising another of his kind. So don’t make me lough the whole day pilizi!!!!!!. You are very funny!! Congratulations Boys in any case! We enjoyed that game, I couldn’t miss a single move the whole game! Beautiful indeed!

  10. I am impressed with the tactical approach of Quicksilver. He knew that the pitch was watery after a heavy downpour, so he resorted to playing long balls (at least 65%). You would have noticed that playing short passes was not easy as the ball was slowing down or stopping (because of wet pitch) when you least expected it. So the answer to that was to play long balls and let the likes of Fashion Sakala, Patson Daka, to take on their defenders and square the ball or shoot direct at goal!
    Congrats boys!!!

  11. must you have to be tribal about everything? we are all happy I assume. Of course I don’t expect HH to go and watch EGYPT vs ZAMBIA.

    • He itches to go the stadium manje amvela nsoni! But one thing I know for sure is that he is glued to his TV set clapping and watching the boys who did not vote for him….must be very painful!

  12. The young team reminds me of the national team of the 70s, 80s and 90s at Independence Stadium with Dennis Liwewe in the commentry box. Go junior Chipolopolo go!

  13. Congratulations atonto atonto. You have made us proud. Southerners and Westerners pull up your socks. I miss Fani Hangunyu of the yester years. He was a prolific goal scorer who was a marvel to watch his skill on display. But the current crop of Southerners and Westerners keep on brooding over election loss and not forging ahead with a positive perspective. Let your children unleash their sports potential other than dragging them into and trapping them in political failed projects. Once congats Young chipolopolo.

  15. Age cheating is everywhere… Look at some Guenea players and even Mali players themselves… Look at Cameroon, my goodness…

Zambian players look even younger…and small in stature… If there is any one older than 19, they must be around 20-21 and not 22 and above… Those boys are young… Talk about Junior Sakulanda… His father is not more that 45years … and his son, not first born for that matter should be around 16-18years… The boys are just good,,

  17. #Banda Mulenga – One Zambia. One Nation. Bane we are one tribe called Zambian. Whether the team is full of bembas or tumbukas or tongas or luvales or lozis only, they are called Zambia National Team and not Bemba/Tumbuka/Tonga/Luvale/Lozi National Team. Go Zambia Go Zambia. You made us proud!

  18. I have only watched the highlights and very late, but i must say that the boys where hungry and vicious wild dogs . they where everywhere it could be easier for the ball to be missed by rain drops than to be missed by the boys . fighting spirit impressive. Well done boys!!

    • I stumbled across this post and found it th-tvhuoprogoking!In contemplation it is about the overall, or sovereign, will of God. There are also other aspects of God’s will. The Bible makes it clear there are many aspects of His will for all of us and for us individually which we can know and act upon. May God bless you and your ministry for our Savior.
