Mufumbwe Member of Parliament Eliot Kamondo has urged the electorate to back calls to shift the provincial ncial capital from Solwezi to Mufumbwe district.

Mr Kamondo said there is need for the the electorate and other stakeholders to support the calls because the district has enough arable land where infrastructure can be constructed as well as natural resources such as water suitable for irrigation and other industrial purposes for development.

He said government should first consider putting up infrastructure that will support Mufumbwe being a provincial capital before the proposal is implemented.

The Member of Parliament said this yesterday after touring Mufumbwe boarding school project, Mufumbwe day secondary school, Chilemba primary and Mufumbwe district hospital.

Mr Kamondo appealed to government to complete the construction of Mufumbwe boarding school to ease the accommodation challenge for pupils who come from far places.

He said there is need to expedite the completion of the remaining works at the boarding school adding that once the project is completed it will add value to the education sector in the district.

Mr Kamondo also donated blankets to Mufumbwe district hospital valued at K5,000 and assured management of his continued support to ensure the health facility continues serving the people of Mufumbwe better.

During the provincial indaba held last week in Solwezi, all the chiefs in Northwestern province unanimously proposed to shift the provincial headquarters from Solwezi to Mufumbwe district.

  1. If this means UPND do not cause the confusion and we see little to no unprovoked confrontation by them.

Then as lusakatimes staff we back that

    Thanks

    • I have never seen a PhD student who is this desperate for attention. Meaning,. you are ever waiting for updates, what time do you have to write thesis and research we pushi-we?. You are a sham, a trickster and a failure. Dating a white man blah blah, learn to work hard in quiet and let your success speak for you, witch!!

  2. Perhaps the shifting will ease accomodation for nurses at Mufumbwe hospital. How is it that up to now no minister or MP is talking about it? Do you expect nurses to live in huts whilst you guys are buying houses in Lusaka. c’mon bwana MP let us see what you are made of.

  3. are we going to change provincial capitals whenever we want development..

    • HAS ZAMBIA GOT THE MONEY FOR ALL THESE EXPENSIVE IDEAS OF SHIFTING CAPITOLS? SATA DONE THE SAME THING AND UPTO NOW MANY PLACES ARE NOT EVEN YET DONE. ZAMBIANS WE DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY SO LET US SET PRIORITIES TO SCHOOLS CLINICS AND HOSPITALS.

  4. Look at the self obsession this illegal dictator has. He even wants the pupils to worship him by writing his name on the board. You would think he would expect them to solve some mathematical problems but he would rather cultivate a cult of personality. Look at the state of that board and he is proud of that. Meanwhile shifting provincial hq will not bring development. Maybe you will shift the poverty from one area to the other that’s about it.

  5. How much are you going to spend on moving you people?
Haven’t we learnt from choma mistakes already.
    Africans never learn!

  6. No one cares, that place is full of sand.
Focus on how best we can get the value of our minerals by keeping HH away from presidency because he might privatize Zambia as a whole this time.

  7. Why does lungu look like a pedophile in that pic.

  8. Doesn’t china own zambia, through loans. We dont own our own country to privatise

  9. Comment: Sure MUFUMBWE is at the middle. The place is fine as phq. we have plenty of minerals in KALENGWA , Matushi gold mine and Munyambala. Water available KABOMPO river less than 10km away and it never dries up and LAND AVAILABLE..

  10. Zambians are preoccupied with things which don’t matter; Southern provincial centre was moved; what has been achieved?Mufumbwe can still develop without being the provincial capitalif we had leaders with brain

  11. For how main speeches for promises for Zambian people,u liers

  12. The best place is either Manyinga or Kabompo and not Mufumbwe.Whats wrong with you people of NWP ?

  13. Kabompo or Manyinga are better suited for provincial town. It can easily connect to all towns on the province. How can one go to Mwinilunga from Mufumbwe? Water is readily available in Kabompo or Manyinga not I Mufumbwe.
What is Ambrose Lufuma doing? Is it that Kaondes do not want the town to go to Luvale land? Then better leave it is Solwezi.

  14. I support kabompo not mufumbwe coz it’s more linked to other towns in the province despite being sandy
