Nkana hand under-pressure Saileti relief, Mighty collect first point

Share

Nkana beat City of Lusaka 1-0 on Sunday at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe to ease the pressure on coach Zeddy Saileti.

The game was the first of Saileti’s three-match, must-win ultimatum handed to him last Monday after losing 3-2 away at Green Buffaloes in Lusaka.

Nkana had prior to Sunday’s win collected just five points from as many games with a win and two draws.

Defender Diego Apanene was the hero after scoring a 32nd minute goal from range that didn’t end without some internal controversial.

Striker Walter Bwalya also claimed it when he didnt touched the ball with his head as Apanene’s goal bound ball headed inside.

Nkana rise to 8 points from six games.

Meanwhile, Mighty Mufulira Wanderers picked up their first point of the season after drawing 1-1 at home against fellow winless team Kabwe Warriors.

Clement Mwape put second from bottom Warriors ahead before the break but last placed Mighty clinched a point in typical fashion via a stoppage time equalizer scored by Changala Simutenda.

Meanwhile, at the top of the table, Lumwana Radiants reclaimed top spot from second placed Zesco United when they beat struggling Nakambala Leopards 1-0 away in Mazabuka thanks to a goal from Alan Kapila.

  1. Despite a win by Nkana the team is still below par. I said last year that Nkana will be in trouble as long as Saileti and the current executive remains at the helm of the team.
