Zesco United are confirmed leaders at the end of match-day-one in Group C of the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup league phase.

The 2016 CAF Champions League semifinalists took command of Group C on Saturday after a 1-0 home win over Smouha of Egypt at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

But Zesco were joined at the summit of Group C on Sunday by CRD Libolo of Angola who also won by the same margin at home in Calulo where they beat group stage debutants Al Hilal Obied of Sudan.

Senegalese striker Mamadou Diawara scored in stoppage time of the 90 minutes to see Libolo join Zesco at the top on 3 points.

It was the striker’s first goal in this years tournament.

Group C action resumes next Wednesday, May 24 when Zesco visit Obied while Smouha host Libolo in Alexandria.

Zesco depart for Sudan this Sunday after taking care of league business on Friday with an away date at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka against City of Lusaka.

  1. Imwe ba Lipota babufi. This is an obvious joint leadership. Both teams with three points have scored the same number of goals so you cant say ZESCO are leading
