Chingaipe warns police against corruptio

Police and Prisons Service Commission Chairperson Peter Chingaipe has warned of taking stern action against corrupt practices.
Mr. Chingaipe warned that any officer involved in corrupt activities would face severe disciplinary action in line with government’s policy on zero tolerance on corruption.
He,however, said the Commission would continue sensitization police, immigration, and correctional service officers on the dangers of corruption and its detrimental effect on the country’s growth.
Mr. Chingaipe said this on Tuesday when he paid a courtesy call on Livingstone Acting District Commissioner James Zimba at his office.
He further advised officers to desist from engaging in partisan politics.
“We advise officers to desist from engaging in partisan politics and to be loyal to the government of the day. Those who want to be politicians should resign,” he said.
Mr. Chingaipe called on the officers to continue maintaining law and order to sustain the peace and security that the country enjoys.

The Police service in the country is dogged with various operational challenges such as lack of transport among others to investigate crime activities such that they are alleged to ask for help commonly known as nicekeleko from complainants for them to carry out their duties, a thing that has dented their image.
Meanwhile, Mr. Chingaipe explained that the Commission was on a tour of Southern Province to familiarize itself with the environment and conditions under which Police, Correctional Services and Immigration operate.
He said the Commission would also use the opportunity to learn more about the challenges being experienced by officers in the three departments.

He added that these included inadequate accommodation, shortage of water in camps, and inadequate transport among others.
Mr. Chingaipe said all the challenges would be captured and a report would be presented to higher authorities and stake holders for them to be addressed.
And speaking earlier, Livingstone Acting District Commissioner James Zimba said as the tourist capital of the nation, Livingstone received over 400 local and foreign tourists per day but the Police and Immigration Department were equal to the task and managed to handle the huge numbers while maintaining peace and order.

    • I have a PHD………………it surely must be a PHD in madness. Firstly, you are a die hard supporter of PF and ECL. Secondly Chingaipe is a loyalist to ECL and PF. So how do you tell him to stop it when he is expressing his loyalty to the government in power. Please study harder and become the youngest maddest professor

    • The most corrupt is the legal/judicial profession, followed by parliament.

The police are small boys/girls in the undesirable game of corruption!

  2. As long as people are getting peanuts corruption will never end.Infact it can just be reduced, not stopped even if people start getting paid thousands and thousands. Money is never enough and it will never be.

    • Corruption can only be reduced if Chakolwa Kadansa Kamwendo lungu and his entire pfools regime stops…lol

  3. First do some studies and find out for instance why you can’t bribe a London policeman, maybe you’ll understand something. Which institution in Zambia is corrupt free?

  4. THE CORRUPTION IS FROM THE TOP AND LIKE A VIRUS IT HAS SPREAD TO THE LOWER ORGANS. THE ONLY PRESIDENT WHO PUT IN A STRONG FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION WAS PATRICK MWANAWASA. A FISH ROTS FROM THE HEAD REMEMBER.

    • Late Mwanawasa’s Government was also very corrupt…He was fighting curruption against Chiluba’s Government meanwhile he forgot to fight it in his own Government and allowed Fred Mmembe and the Post Newspapers to corrupt him by not paying taxes including ka Mulongoti at Works and Supply ministry…All those making noise in the Mwanawasa Government including former first Lady Dr Maureen Mwanawasa h.c were not spared…

  5. Peter Changaipe is a senior career civil servant dedicated to his work… He is a good man… He is very objective…. He is focused…….

  6. Can someone tell me if the wife to Peter Chingaipe Madam Nancy Chingaipe is still working in the police service and what rank she is now holding.
