Peoples’ Party (PP) President Mike Mulongoti has urged President Edgar Lungu to focus on working and not politicking.

In a statement today, Mulongoti observed that the head of state has concentrated on fighting his opponents as opposed to executing his executive duties.

Mr Mulongoti said  President Lungu was wasting state resources on fighting Chishimba Kambwili and Mwenye Musenge instead focus on issues of development and improved service delivery.

He pointed out that much  of President Lungu’s reign, from the time he was sworn in has been spent on politicking and fighting personal battles at the expense of the major issues that affect the country.

For more, here is the entire statement from Mike Mulongoti:

PRESS RELEASE
27/07/17

*LUNGU SHOULD FOCUS ON WORKING AND NOT POLITICKING*

Edgar Lungu should stop wasting state resources on fighting Chishimba Kambwili and Mwenye Musenge but instead focus on issues of development and improved service delivery.

The bulk of Edgar Lungu’s reign, from the time he was sworn in as republican president, has been spent on politicking and fighting personal battles at the expense of the major issues that affect our country.

Watching him officiate at the Luapula Expo yesterday shows that he would rather spend most of his time talking about his political opponents instead of underlining investment opportunities and prospects that Luapula province offers.

This goes to show that his main motive of travelling to Luapula province is to drive his 2021 presidential bid and do damage control on the negative impact of the PF expelling Kambwili and Musenge.

Whats is depressing about this whole debacle is that he is doing this using state resources on the guise that he performing state duties when in actuality he is just campaigning and lobbying to be the PF sole candidate for 2021.

Lungu has so much work cut out for him to do and should seriously start working. We have acute and alarming levels of corruption, alarming levels of unemployment, fragile health facilities and services, high basic commodities prices among many other challenges that Zambians are facing.

Two weeks from now, Lungu would have clocked exactly one year as president of Zambia. Whats saddening is that there is nothing tangible to put to his name apart from his trips outside the country, diminishing human rights record and his brutal assault on the opposition and his never ending, intolerance levels for dissenting views.

It’s evident that Lungu’s preoccupation is 2021. This is utterly shocking because we still have four years before elections.

It certainly clear that he is not interested in developing the country and improving the living standards of the general citizenry but instead just wants to tighten his grip on power.

It’s too early to start intra party wrangles at the expense of development. The problem is that clearly Edgar Lungu has picked so many fights within the PF, outside the PF, the Church, Traditional chiefs and even with some international political observers such as NUMSA.

All this is swaying him from focusing on the issues that matter and will develop the country. He needs to grow a thick skin, accept criticism and set his mind on making Zambia a better place than he found it.

  1. I agree with you sir…Lungu is the worst president Zambia has ever had…if it’s not traveling it’s fighting with the opposition….

    • Mulongoti is just bitter. Is he not seeing that every week new projects are being commissioned by the president and his ministers. Lungu should just ignore such clowns. Results of the president’s work are there for or genuine people to see. Mulongoti, juSt watch ZANIS news and learn hos much is happening in the country.

  2. Lungu is a very distractive and dividing force. He only succeeds where there is confusion. Then we have ndanje above who says it’s internal affairs. The I.d.i.ot ndanje forgets that statements were made from statehouse. If it’s internal issue why use government platforms.

  3. I want my Zambia back, the land of peace and unity, the one land and the only nation called Zambia. ECL should take back this unfamiliar country he had dished to us. He should take away the disunity, the infighting, the name calling.
Please bring back a President who works for all Zambians and not for an individual party. A working president and not a tourist. A respectable president and not the laughing stock if a president who surrounds himself with bakaponya.
I want my pride to call myself a Zambian again. Yes a working president is wanted for mother Zambia. A good president is seen from his good works, ask ECL to count his.

    • Pride to call yourself Zambian again yet you chose to run away from your country and hope things sort themselves out?? You choose to be a second class citizen to a white man, how many Britons rush to other countries?? Your head has been filled with social media and fake media rubbish that tell you there is a crisis in Zambia. Yet we who are busy working hard know that only our efforts will take this country forward, not politicians regardless of which party they belong to. We voted in majority for the current leadership and we think we are ok with them: mealie meal has just gone down due to excess stocks and successive bumper harvests, the exchange rate is stable, copper prices are rebounding…if you choose to follow losers like Mulongoti, then you are the bigger f00l!!!

    • Now this article 31 issue
What will be happenning to those that will be defaming and insulting the opposition like Zambian Citizen has just done in his post?Mr Kampyongo can you please advise.

  4. “The problem is that clearly Edgar Lungu has picked so many fights within the PF, outside the PF, the Church, Traditional chiefs and even with some international political observers such as NUMSA.”

NUMSA are now international political observers??? Really the calibre of opposition in this country has deteriorated!!! How can a country have a vibrant democracy when even the fourth estate of governance, the press, can lower their standards so much so as to entertain such mediocrity??? Then we should complain tomorrow when one party dominates all aspects of governance because voters have no confidence in the opposition??? WE NEED LESS OF CLOWNS LIKE MULONGOTI IN OUR POLITICS!!!

  5. YABA, This chap is still around…

Not once have i heard him outline the alternative policies
to that of PF as a party in government.

Zambia as well as Africa at large needs visionary and well meaning trustworthy leaders
whether in opposition or otherwise. Mulongoti who of course is a minion and seasonal
politician can’t for that matter doubt the dispensation of Chagwa thus far.

We need to rid ourselves from such quarks.

  6. but who is gn monitor dirty money? bribes? embezzlement?
What is happening with mining company ZCCM management is a crime… TAKING CHINESE MONEY
    WE NEED TO ACT!

  7. When this man was in power, he spoke to his critics in a very condescending manner, like it was his birth right to do so. I bet he never thought a day would come when he would want to be heard. Grow a thick skin yourself and realise that you are now irrelevant. Some of you should be as brutally honest with yourselves as papa munkombwe was, you are all in this for your belly. Sour grapes because you were left out. Shame.

  8. Of course Mike has nobody to fight since he’s got no members and doesn’t have control of government.

  9. Silly! Which opponents is the president fighting? Are you talking about someone who broke the law and the law is taking its course?

  10. Mulongoti is playing some offside kicks. The truth is that President Lungu quietly works hard nationally as UPND and its allies in South Africa try to fan provocative utterances against Zambia.

Besides, only yesterday Nelson Mandela’s grandson appreciated the Zambian Govt style for having prevented the rowdy DA’s leader (Maimane) from importing anarchy into Zambia. By this time the inner-circle (the whites) in the DA, who run major businesses in South Africa (with outflow of their products to other SADC states) must have strongly rebuked Maimane not to endanger prospects of marketing their industrial products in the Southern African region.

  11. @Zambian citizen ignorantly asks ‘how many Britons rush to other countries’? Britons are almost in every country in the world for your information. They live, work, do business and even other illegal activities in other countries. I don’t see your point. This is a global world and people can choose to be where they want. It doesn’t even stop them from criticising from wherever they are. What world are you in? There is hardly any country that only has its own citizens – the world wouldn’t survive.

  12. He should also be asking the CEO of ZCCM, Pius Kasolo to work and stop feeding his belly off the backs of poor Zambians. zccmminerhateskasolo.blogspot.co.za
