The Zambia Corporative Federation (ZCF) says it has installed more than 500 solar powered hammer mills country wide, out of its national target of 2000.

ZCF Director Projects Derrick Sokoni says the institution had a target of up to December 2018 to fully complete the installation of the hammer mills across the country.

ZANIS reports that Mr Sokoni said this in an interview in Lusaka today.

“We have installed about 567 solar hammer mills out of the 2000 country wide target. The project started in 2015 and we are targeting by end of December next year to be done with the project,” he said.

The hammer mills were improving the living standards of most communities in the country as it reduced the cost of production of mealie meal, he said.

The ZCF Director Projects said the institution was also creating jobs for most youths as it was training them to be operators of the hammer mills.

Mr Sokoni said ZCF had trained more than 400 Grade twelve school leavers to operate the machines as they were delicate and required at least a grade 12 school leaver to operate them.

He said out of the 400 youths, about 296 were trained in Eastern Province and about 50 in Northern Province and about 54 in Luapula province to ensure that the machines where operational and that no hammer mill was left idle.

  1. Why eastern province received 296 on training? is it wako ni wako because ZCF Boss is Chirwa? what is the meal production capacity for each? what is the cause of delay ? how can you install hammer mills in 3yrs 2000 of them , cos hammer mill is just assembling and very little civil works, tell us the truth is the issue of money? why nobody is trained from southern province and yet we are a maize hub? what happened to the chinese loan 200million dollaz so many endless questions

    • Bad Project management with lack of strategies. How come when Hummer mills are so easy to install? They just want to find loopholes to steal, either they have engaged their relatives to do the installation work. Why not spread the project province/ district wise?? Dora at work. She eats from every ministry.

  2. since 2015 596 have been installed that is approx 189 per year so how are you going to install 1433 mills in 1 YEAR AND 4 MONTHS. Grade 12 students taught how to use a hammer mill next you will need a university degree. Kids go to school for 12 years to be a hammermill operator. Great incentive.
