The Road Development Agency- RDA- has completed rehabilitation works on the section of the Luangwa-Feira road that was damaged in February this year.

The road was damaged as a result of earth movements.

RDA Acting Director for Communication and Corporate Affairs Anthony Mulowa says China Geo, the contractor that was engaged to work on the road completed the works on September 26th, 2017.

The road has been rehabilitated at a cost of over 11 million Kwacha.

Speaking to ZNBC News in an interview today, Mr. Mulowa said the road has since been opened to the public and traffic is flowing smoothly.

Meanwhile, the Engineering Services Cooperation of Zambia ( ESCO) has commenced rehabilitation works on the pontoon which links Namwala and itezhi tezhi Districts respectively.

This is after the pontoon broke down a fortnight ago..

ZANIS reports from Namawala District that ESCO works supervisor Barnabas Kalunga confirmed in a an interview today that the pontoon is being worked on after it developed a fault for two weeks ago.

He assured the travelling public and the affected communities that ESCO will soon repair the pontoon.

The Namwala- Itezhitezhi embankment road is a very important road which links the two districts at Kafue river where the pontoon run links the two districts.

  1. Thin layer with no real load bearing base as foundation..We’re being ripped off no wonder these “modern roads” are washing away.

    • True or False?

a). The road was damaged as a result of heavy rain in February 2016
b). The road was damaged as a result of earth movement in February 2016
c). The road was damaged as a result of poor workmanship
d). The road was damaged as a result of corruption

    • This is the true cost of corruption to the Zambian Taxpayer..most of these contracts are sold on by PF to the Chines with no guarantees. What a shame..what a generation of crooks we have for leaders. I hope one day we bring all these evil people to answer for their crimes or just make sure the spend their retirement in courtrooms.

    • That road did not have any sub base what so ever…it was like butter spread on bread.
Only a dumb PF cadre can believe RDA liars!!

    • What did you expect from a RDA that was run from Satas bedroom? That was where the ROTTENESS started, and has got worse and worse ever since.

How many BILLIONS have these PF thieves now borrowed and stolen and hidden in THEIR MATTRESSES ????

Cry beloved Zambia. God have mercy on our children that will be forced to pay back this KALOBA by working as slaves their whole lives.

  2. By mere visual examination of the picture it is evident that compaction and base materials are suspect. It does not take rocket science to determine that the thickness of the bitumen wearing surface is “biscuit thick”, whatever the specification! Presence of “hanky panky”, coupled with bad workmanship can not be discounted here!

  3. zmk11MILLION is stolen again , can u show us a picture showing the rehabilitated section . This RDA must relocate to China

  4. All those hoping these criminals will one day pay for ripping off State resources are in a Dreamland known as “CLOUD CUCKOOLAND”
In Zambia corruption pays, & no leader has ever been to Prison for Grand Theft.
In fact we even praise thieves like Kafupi Mpundu, & give them a State send off to Embassy Park. What a joke!!
Even Congo -Zaire who mentored Kafupi in stealing without remorse, NEVER offered Mobutu a State send off, & burial to their equivalent of Embassy Park, hence he remains in Morrocco.
Conclusion; ZAMBIANS ARE DOCILE, & MYOPIC, & this trend will only perpetuate, as theres NO CONSEQUENCE for Daylight Robbery

  5. Some roads to nowhere.
