Over Speeding Driver dies in an accident

One person has died while 2 others are nursing serious injuries in a fatal road traffic accident that occurred along the Lukanga Chowa Road in Mpongwe District.

Copperbelt Province Police Commissioner Charity Katanga confirmed the incident to ZANIS in an interview.

Ms Katanga disclosed that the accident occurred around 05:30 hours at Chinua area along the Chowa Lukanga road in Mpongwe.

She identified the deceased as Mubanga Mulenga aged 31 who was also the driver of the Iveco truck registration number BCA7166.

She disclosed that the driver lost control due to excessive speed which caused the vehicle to overturn.

Ms Katanga identified the other 2 injured persons as Isaac Kamfwemfu who sustained cuts on the head and Nicholas Mulenga who sustained body pains.

A check by ZANIS at the scene found a combined team of officers from Zambeef and Luanshya fire brigade trying to retrieve the body of the driver who was trapped in the vehicle cabin.

  1. More and even more young people will continue dying this way due to our own carelessness as a country. This is very sad to families losing their young this way.
