Minister of Higher Education Nkandu Luo
Minister of Higher Education Nkandu Luo
Minister of Higher Education Nkandu Luo has called for an end to students riots in all institutions of higher learning in the country.

And Professor Luo has assured retirees in public universities that their huge debt of packages will be dismantled in a period of three years.

Professor Luo says lessons should be learnt from the negative impact that riots and student unrests have caused and should be avoided at ALL costs.

The Minister of Higher Education was speaking when she separately addressed Copperbelt University-CBU students and members of staff at the Jambo Drive Campus this morning.

Meanwhile, Professor Luo disclosed that university councils which where dissolved in public universities in 2015 and replaced with caretaker committees will only be changed when the Higher Education Act goes through parliament.

    • BA PROF LUO- IMPLEMENT STUDENT LOANS, PLEASE MWE BANTU. YOU WILL NEVER SEE ANY RIOTING STUDENT AFTER THE IMPLEMENTATION OF STUDENT LOAN FACILITY. NO STUDENT WOULD WANT TO SPENT MORE UNNECESSARY YEARS AT UNI. JUST TO INCREASE DEBT. WHY CAN’T ZAMBIA IMPLEMENT GOOD AND BENEFICIAL THINGS QUICKLY? IS IT BECAUSE STUDENT LOANS WILL CATER FOR EVEN THE POOR OF THE POOREST? BRITAIN WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY FOR ZAMBIA TO COPY AND PASTE ITS COMPREHENSIVE STUDENT LOAN SYSTEM WHICH FOLLOWS YOU WHEREVER YOU GO DURING AND AFTER ONES UNIVERSITY PROGRAMME AND DURING ONE’S WORK LIFE UNTIL ONE COMPLETELY CLEARS THEIR STUDENT LOAN DEBT. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR BA GRZ?

    • This woman is not an MP and neither is she a Minister. Her election was nullified. Nkadu go away.

  1. What is law doing about innocent students who were brutalised by the Police.

Zambians you are all quiet and watching PF killing you all.

    • Those students deserved the beatings they received because they are aware of the consequences of such riots. Every time students take to the streets and starts destroying properties they end up in cells or been beaten and they know this fact.

  2. Nkandu Luo should call an end to late payment of food allowance to avoid riots. This is problem of lack of leadership. Only seeing situations from your own perspective instead of dealing with the root problem, the actual cause of the problem. Pay the students on time and avoid riots.

  3. Mubatendekela dala so that when they react, you send Police officers to go & kill them. How can you pay retirees in 3 years, when you get your gratuities a month before the end of your contacts

  4. Governing by the bullet and the gun doesnt work, protesting and if pushed to the wall, rioting has always been there since UNIP era. Take care of the students and you wont see them going to the street to register their grievances.

  5. This government is criminal, politicians pay themselves a lot of money but they voted in parliament not to pay pensions! Which politician in this country is owed gratuity or pension equivalent for 3years? “Criminals” This government doesn’t want to pay students what’s due to students on time, but is blaming students for consequences of not paying students their due! This behaviour from our minister is criminal behaviour and nothing else!

  6. Judge Musona call for an end to Ministerial illegality of this ugly impostor as munali MP. Kikikikikiki. what is she vomiting and to whom?
