The Patriotic Front in Mansa District says it is intact despite former Foreign Affairs Minister Harry Kalaba ‘s resignation.

Mansa District Patriotic Front Chairman Febian Chibela says the party in the district is aware that Mr. Kalaba, who is also Bahati Member of Parliament, has been slippery and working in isolation for a long time.

Mr Chibela alleged that the district is aware that Mr Kalaba has been having dark corner meetings with unknown people and that his resignation is welcome.

ZANIS in Mansa reports that speaking in an interview yesterday, Mr Chibela said the party in the district will remain strong in ensuring that they deliver development in the district as they promised the people.

He however, expressed concern that the resignation of Mr Kalaba as a cabinet minister will delay development especially in Bahati constituency.

He says the people of Bahati would love to have another Member of Parliament saying the current situation will not move development smoothly in the constituency.

The Patriotic Front Mansa District Chairman has since called on party members in the district to continue respecting the party hierarchy.

He added that the party in the district is not shaken and that the decision that Mr Kalaba has taken is a personal decision which everyone has the right to.

Mr. Kalaba resigned as Foreign Affairs minister yesterday for personal reasons and has since written to a letter to President Edgar Lungu about his move.

    • Eeeh ai, abaku Senama are confused.
Frank Bwalya is still a Catholic, but not a priest, he resigned himself, no one ex-communicated him.
What other example to help ba PF?

  1. Political signals coming from Luapula Province reveal that Kalaba was unpopular in that region. As a Minister Kalaba merely enriched himself on allowances through foreign trips as he camped abroad pretending to receive the Republican President.
Regionally Kalaba lacked diplomatic skills to deal with some South African politicians (DA’s Maimane) and Trade Unionists (NUMSA) who supported Mmembe’s Tax evasion and the white-controlled DA that attacked Zambia’s sovereign status. Kalaba failed to lend a hand to a Zambian High Commission in S. Africa that defended us from activities of a Nigerian mercenary General Obasanjo working for Brenthurst Foundation that was geared to cause confusion in Kenya, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

  2. Mwansa wether he was popular or not is not an issue. His action of resigning is a noble move that can propel him to the top like Mwanawasa. There is so much corruption in PF, such that if u continue in this government u might taint your image. Time reveals things and right now time is showing us who Lungu is truly is

    • Ba China – It is only noble because you do not like ECL. Your Kalaba overestimated himself. For your information, Mwanawasa did not resign because of corruption in MMD (he was corrupt himself as well). Mwanawasa resigned because his junior Mr. Sata was insubordinate to him and his boss Mr. Chiluba did not take action. Have your facts right. If you think ECL is going anywhere, then think again. The resignations and dismissals of some of these charlatans will just strengthen PF. Kalaba was so lucky to get that lucrative job and grew wings.

  3. BUT THE QUESTION IS WHAT HAS KALABA DONE IN LUAPULA PROVINCE TO WRITE A BOOK ABOUT? RESIGNING JUST BECAUSE THERE IS NO LIGHT AT THE END OF PRESIDENTIAL TUNNEL FOR HIM DOES MEAN THAT KALABA IS RESIGNING BECAUSE OF CORRUPTION IN THE GOVERNMENT. WE DID NOT HEAR HIM CRY CORRUPTION WHEN HE WAS SERVING AS FOREIGN MINISTER. AFTER RAISING MONEY WITHIN A CORRUPT SYSTEM IS THIS WHEN IT IS RIGHT FOR HIM TO CRY FOUL?

  4. “…has been slippery and working in isolation for a long time…” Yes he was working in isolation because he was different from the rest of the Koswe Clan !
Harry Kalaba has not resigned so that PF in Luapula is dismantled, if he wanted to do that, he would have also resigned as Member of Parliament. If anything the PF should even be grateful that he has even spared them embarrasment from UPND or Kambwili’s Toilet Paper Party in a bye-election.
The PF has been singing about lack of intra-party democracy in UPND but look what is happening after Kalaba’s exit ! Very soon the PF Central Commitee will sit and start scheming how to expel Kalaba. Isn’t this intra-party intolerance not undemocratic ? You attacked UPND for expelling MPs who were appointed in PF portfolios but you are…

  5. Honourable Harry Kalaba must continue reporting for work and perfom his ministerial duties. I have never heard the President saying he has accepted Honourable Harry Kalaba’s resignation neither has the President commeneed on Honourable Harry Kalaba’s resignation. What I have heard is that state house has received Honourable Harry Kalaba’s resignation. State house comprises of a lot of staff including the President. Yes Honourable Harry Kalaba has resigned, but also the other person must accept his resignation.
