Brenda was dragged to court and she was accused of having burnt her niece with a pressing iron on her chest on October 26, 2016 at their house in Lusaka’s Chalala area.

The girl is a double orphan.

It was alleged that Brenda had been angered by the girl‘s using of an iron which the couple had stopped using.

In testimonies in court, the girl’s classmate testified before Magistrate Malumani how her friend‘s hands were swollen and had a reddish blister on her chest when she asked her, she told her that shehad been burnt by her aunt.

She said that her friend informed her that her aunt beat her and later burnt her with a pressing iron on her chest after she used a pressing iron she was told not to be using.

The girl’s class teacher also testified how the school management summoned Brenda after the girl reported the case to the teachers.

And Winfridah Mundia, a teacher at Woodlands B Basic School also testified that the pupil reported to the school management how she was beaten and burnt by her aunt.

Ms Mundia told the court that she observed marks on the girls back and her thighs with a reddish blister on the chest.
The assault incident was later reported to Woodlands Police station.

  1. An orphan is just an orphan. There’s no such thing as “double orphan”, at least that’s what old school taught me, and to the best of my knowledge, even in my dictionary, there’s only “orphan”.

    • These Christians for lulu aikona man, they are just double wahala. I also don’t understand this zambian language of double orphan wahala, we know people in trying to get more donor aid they try to write proposals that make their subjects look so vulnerable, so thats donors release funds.

    • Hello Jean, its correct to say double orphan – check this : In this approach, a maternal orphan is a child whose mother has died, a paternal orphan is a child whose father has died, and a double orphan is a child who has lost both parents. This contrasts with the older use of half-orphan to describe children that had lost only one parent.

    • Aaah! Magistrate Malumani the first just judge to handle the kuomboka aftermath treason case, this is the judge who couldn’t mouth the nonsense from the state witnesses and opened everyone’s eyes to reality that the treason case was a non starter. Long time judge. Guys what do you think, i got a sharp memory right?

    • @jean The English language evolves all the time. Probably you should evolve too. Even the native english speakers have double orphan in their vocabulary. The department of pensions UK have double orphan in their definition, who are we to argue?

    • Chosen debating is what differentiates us from the animal Kingdom, that’s why it’s not right to gag people divergent views in a nation, least the nation’s political, economical and social aspects become stalled projects as result of pushing them away with slogans like sela tubombeko.

  2. It’s difficult to imagine a woman like that as a wife. If I wholeheartedly decide that I am going to keep an orphan at my house and my wife agrees, I am supposed to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the child the same way I would with my children. If you don’t want to keep orphaned children or if you know your wife or husband doesn’t like it, just don’t do it. It’s that simple. Why would you subject a child to that kind of treatment? I would find it very difficult to stay in the same house with a woman who does something like that to a child. This is not just about a child. This is type of woman that will kill a husband. People who do such things will stab their spouses and kill them over small misunderstandings. Ladies and gentlemen, be careful who you marry.

    • And when you find these tuma pente ladies kaponya ma tongues in church, you will think you have met an angel, kanshi its a she devil.

  3. Eish our wives mwandi. The way they treat maids, kept little girls. Despite helping them mountains of work. They are always shouting, scolding them. For no apparent reasons. Make a mistaken! say something in defence of the poor girl or maid. Ninshi lwanya. You will be on lock down like Lusaka during Cholera out break. No business. Sad mama Nyoya. I am not a fun of your husband. But I sympathies with him. for staying with cruelty. He’s luck he hasn’t been knifed or press ironed himself. I hope my wife can be next in court. Love you babe.

    • Kikiki, kikiki, azi right! Lady with Such a short fuse, the probability of her wife knifing you are definitely highest.

  4. GOOD JUDGEMENT.
SURELY WHAT KIND OF CRUELTY IS THAT?
I AGREE WITH OTHERS,LET HER ROT IN PRISON.
IF HER CHILDREN WILL BE TREATED LIKE THAT WHEN SHE IS IN PRISON,HOW IS SHE GOING TO FEEL?
LET US CARE FOR THE ORPHANS AND THE BIBLE IS VERY CLEAR ON THAT POINT.
WHEN YOU MISTREAT AN ORPHAN AND HE/SHE CRIES UNTO THE LORD,GOD WILL HEAR THE CRY AND THE PUNISHMENT WILL BE LIKE NJOYA’S WIFE.THIS IS THE LESSON TO ALL OF US.

  5. I only have one question for these women who mistreat those in their custody, are these women also humans or are from the ape species? Bushe nabo bantu fye nangu ni ba baboon? Every human deserves better not ubu bupuba kacikakeni ici cipuba Ba Malumani.

  6. Its time for her to reflect. You don’t mistreat needy children. Hope Njoya will still be available when she comes out. This is a lesson to all of us especially the cruel and crooked people out there.

  7. Why are people so cruel to orphans as if their own children can also become orphans? Always put yourself in other people’s shoes.
