Green Buffaloes poor away form against North African opponents continued to haunt them when on Saturday night they suffered a brutal 4-0 away loss to Egyptian club El Masry.
The defeat in a 2018 CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round, first leg match played at Port said, left Buffaloes on the verge of an early exit from continental football after a 10-year absence.
Furthermore, the loss extended Buffaloes losing run away in North Africa to four successive games since 1982.
El Masry took a 2-0 lead into the break when defender Islam Salah put the hosts ahead in the 15th minute before ex-Burkina Faso striker Aristide Bance added goal number two in the 38th minute.
His compatriot and defender Mohamed Koffi made it 3-0 in the 52nd minute before striker Islam Eissa completed the rout in the 81st minute.
Buffaloes must now try and score four unanswered goals next Tuesday in Lusaka to try and at least force a post-match penalty decider at home.
