Thieves broke into United Church of Zambia, Kawama congregation in Ndola last night and got away with goods worth K20,000 .

ZANIS reports that UCZ Congregation Secretary, John Kasheli confirmed the incident which took place around midnight last night as the guard was fast asleep.

Mr. Kasheli said the thieves took advantage of a heavy downpour that characterised most parts of the city and managed to away with stolen goods which includes one deep freezer fridge, keyboard, amplifier, curtains, garden chairs, PA system cables and speakers among other items.

The congregation Secretary said the church, however, managed to recover the garden chairs which were found concealed around Kawama football pitch.

He added the matter has been reported to police.

Mr. Kasheli described the development as unfortunate and since appealed to police to intensify patrols in the area.

  1. So thieves stole because it rained on that night? This doesn’t make sense bs journalism and you tell the guard was asleep on duty? Then you don’t need a guard if this guy is in deep sleep at midnights.

  3. And how can you keep K20,000 in the church which is just a hall??? How can you keep forcing people to pay tithe without using it?? Thieves have enjoyed the tithe for UCZ.
