Siavonga District Commissioner (DC) Lovemore Kanyama has urged Siavonga residents to appreciate the Government’s effort of mending the township roads in the district

Mr. Kanyama Says government will in the initial stage mend potholes before embarking on rehabilitation of township roads.

He said the rehabilitation of the entire township roads will be done when the Road Development Agency RDA’s (RDA) releases the funds.

“Government through my office is doing everything possible to rehabilitate roads and other infrastructures in Siavonga,” Mr Kanyama said.

He said heavy rains experienced in the 2016/2017 damaged most of the roads in Siavonga.

Mr. Kanyama said the rains being experienced this year has also worsened the situation.

The DC said he appreciates criticism coming from Siavonga residents that mending the potholes is not enough and that their concerns will be taken into account for better roads to be constructed.

“Yes, certain individuals called my office on why I have allowed the RDA to mend the Siavonga township roads instead of fully rehabilitating them,” Mr Kanyama noted.

He has since appealed to Siavonga residents to cooperate with RDA to carry out their works without interference.

  1. You know what? We need to know at what cost you are mending these roads?

This is annoying, we are not kids you buy ice cream without mentioning how much it costs, you know?

If we had to analyse the mending spend, I wouldn’t be surprised if I found that to equal the amount of resurfacing the road.

We need transparency! Don’t make my president look stupid!!!

    • They take you for docile foooools and you will be dancing that the road has been patched up not knowing that the price is the same as a brand new road.

  2. RDA is in state house including board ,members and top leadership so how do u expect such solutions coming from state house and u think u can audit them, please us in MDC Roads boards per district shall be funded and control own procurement

  3. Appreciate What? It’s RDA’s duty to mend the roads and remember we pay road tax, fitness ,fuel levy and toll gates so please spear us and I could appreciate you to thank us the Zambians who agree to pay almost everything without putting up a fight. So please you just using our money of which we deserve better.

    • This is what happens when you put cadres in these positions…a seasoned Civil Servants wouldn’t utter such rubbish. Anyway this is something that can come to from Lazy Lungu’s mouth.

  4. “Siavonga DC Lovemore Kanyama has urged Siavonga residents to appreciate the Government’s effort of mending the township roads in the district”

This is utter stupidity of the highest spewing out from this chap Lovemove’s mouth , who do you think paid for that work…why should residents thank govt for doing its job, how much is this mere patching up of the road at this time of the year?

  5. RDA being responsible for township roads? Isn’t it the council that is responsible for that? Why should residents thank government for working on their roads? That’s tax payers funds at work

  6. As you work on those patches can you please ensure that the shoulders of the main road leading to siavonga and the bottom road are cleared. The bushes have overgrown and are covering some sections of these roads, especially the bottom road. There isn’t any heavy machinery required to undertake this assignment – just employ the locals on those sections and it will be done in no time.
