Zanaco have beaten Gambia Armed Forces FC 3-1 away this evening in Banjul to advance to the pre group stage of the 2018 CAF Champions League.
The Sunset side advanced to the final knockout round 6-1 on aggregate after Saturdays win.
Ernest Mbewe put the Zambian club ahead in the 17th minute.
However,Gambia AF equalized in the 40th minute through Lamin Senneh to see the sides go 1-1 into the break.
Ex Power Dynamos striker Martin Phiri restored Zanaco’s lead in the 84th minute to see him net his third of the campaign after scoring a brace on his club debut a fortnight ago in that 3-0 home win at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka on February 10.
George Chilfuya wrapped up Zanaco’s good day in Banjul in 89th minute to see Mumamba Numba’s side kickoff their 2018 African campaign with a 100 per cent start.
Zanaco will host Mbabane Swallows of Swaziland at Nkoloma in the final knockout round on March 6.
The final leg is scheduled for March 17.
Winner will advance to the CAF Champions League group stage in May.
The loser will be relegated to the pre-group phase of the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup in April.
