Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) says President Edgar Lungu risks leaving behind the worst legacy compared to his predecessors when it comes to the fight against corruption.

TIZ Executive Director Wesley Chibamba told QTV News that President Lungu’s administration has presided over the most dubious deals.

Mr. Chibamba has cited the procurement of fire trucks, ambulances, the construction of the Lusaka – Ndola Dual Carriageway, the construction of the modern Kenneth Kaunda International Airport among other projects that people feel corruption was involved.

He added that it is not a secret that President Lungu’s presidency has been subject to numerous corruption allegations than any other past Head of State, stressing that this should worry him as a leader.

Mr Chibamba further stated that during President Lungu’s tenure the nation has also witnessed rampant reports of alleged corruption as highlighted in the Auditor General Reports.

He said if the President wants to leave a legacy worth remembering after his presidency, he should be proactive in dealing with corruption allegations by firing officials involved, such as ministers to pave way for further investigations.

    • My estimate is Lungu is worth at least $2-Billion through corruption.

The real reason Govt won’t disclose amount of debt is because the amount stolen will be discovered. Some loans procured from China by Lungu were never declared to treasury.

There is a story going round that he’s building a mall in Uganda using part of the loot. His daughter Tasila is now the richest female Zambian.

Asking Lungu to fight graft is like asking S.atan to preach Christ to sinners.

    • What do you mean he risks leaving?
He is already the worst, most corrupt, most incompetent and visionless president since records of presidential legacies began.

    • WHERE IS THE EVIDENCE,?
HAVE YOU BEEN TO ACC AND WERE TURNED DOWN?
THEN ACC IS THE PROBLEM IF THEY DON’T ACT ON SUBMITTED EVIDENCE.
IN ZAMBIA IF YOU ARE SUCCESSFUL THEN YOU MUST BE CORRUPT.
BLOGGING CAN NEVER MAKE YOU RICH!!
      GO OUT AND WORK.

  1. I agree with the article. President Lungu must demonstrate leadership in the fight against corruption and general wastage of public resources.

I am disappointed that I haven’t heard any comment from State House following the initiative that Mutati took to prevent abuse of government vehicles.

Mr President, You are making UPND’s job very easy for 2021, but more importantly you are putting tax payers at great pain to helplessly watch public resources being wasted.

  2. Zambians dont we get tired – you wake up everyday “alleged corruption” blaa blaa blaa. Tell me if Lungu was to fire a minister today wont you be the same that jump in support of that minister, like you have with a certain loud one? So can we have people coming up with alternative solutions to this government. Something Zambians can look at & buy into, people with proven integrity, so that come next elections Zambians can have hope. Not these other people who have used their Government positions to build houses all over. People who privatized parastatals to themselves. So come next elections Zambians are stuck with same or similar characters running government. And so songs of “corruption” will just have different faces. Zambia, awe

    • I take it you buy Kampyongos story of putiing using his name to buy mukula? I feel sorry for people who still want to defend this selfish lot of Politicians. A truck load of mukula was intercepted with a State House escort what more evidence do you want?

  3. When Kambwili is arrested for corruption you all call it political persecuting and yet when he was a minister you all cried for his blood. One thing you’ve not done is to report anyone for corruption. All you do is abusing the word corruption.

    13

    3
    • And this chap has UPND written all over him. He is paid to reiterate corruption songs with no proof. There may be corruption, but not at the scale these chaps keep dreaming.

      14

      8
    • @Ndanje Khakis,
LOL – Why do you avoid asking how come Kambwili was NOT ‘arrested for corruption’ whilst still serving in PF Govt? Trying to be too clever by half?

And how on earth can you defend the indefensible when short-sighted people are wrecking and destroying your children’s, nieces’ and nephews’ Country? Unless of course you are either one of the short-sighted people deeply involved in this madness going on in PF Govt, or you are a young and immature person and blindly supporting your parent/close relative in Govt.

      7

      13
    • Brabus, please read in full. ….the stress is on you people calling for Kambwili to be fired and prosecuted and your about turn after these two have been done. Don’t play polemics just admit that to you a person is only corrupt when in government but he becomes clean as soon as he’s fired.

      15

    • You all waisting your time talking about corruption when lungu is silent on the matter…….have you ever heard lungu mention his fight against corruption ?

  4. Jona Mutaware does not care if Zambia is fast approaching a Cliff.
All Jona worries about is staying in power BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY!!
Jona is a Chawama playboy, who surrounds himself with fellow playboy Thugs like Kaizer & Chimpyongo. Surely what caliber of advisor is Kaizer, apart from being a thug enforcer?
Zambia has more than 10 million citizens, & we have Kaizer advising a President, sure? Guys like Freedom Sikazwe, honestly?
Therefore folk must Stop believing Jona is at all worried about his legacy. NO!
The Chawama playboy is only worried about staying in power as long as he can manipulate gullible Zambians, & the kickbacks he receives monthly from Avic, Vedanta, & other Corrupt paymasters Chapwa!!

  5. Lungu is the second worst thing that has happened to this country after cholera. The chap has no clue where he wants to take this country to. He is a hopeless charlatan who can only be taken seriously by insane people. Anyone who still has faith in Lungu needs to have their brain checked.

    11

    19
    • No. the worst thing is to have people with putrid brains like yourself contaminate this space.

  6. When you have a dull person at the helm of leading a country, a person whose mind is so narrow it cannot accommodate the strategic mental faculties required to run a nation, these are the results. The man clearly said he had no vision and then you have people here jumping to his defence. What does that tell you about such people who are proud to be led by a visionless character? Do they not embody the very epitome of extreme dullness? Indicators are all over the place that the economy is doing a backward dance but they still cheer on. Reports of violence by their party while their leader is ndwii busy talking about an opposition leader and they still cheer. The lack of intelligence in such individuals is mind blowing to be honest.

    11

    18
  7. Difficulty and impossible to defend. The record speaks for itself. Even officers with fake double doctorates exist in this govt, mukula women exist too.

    5

    12
    • You mean this Bishop Chomba character with his fake papers? Those are the calibre Lungu wants around him, Bene Lusambo filys so.

  8. I have no problem with the need to fight corruption, it is absolutely necessary. The problem is that the tribalist likes of His Royal Lowness Chieftainess Mukuni and the hapless h.h have polarised the political scene so much that it is now difficult to engage in serious discussions around corruption. The subject is tainted by selfish political interests, tribalism (in the name of the tonga people, especially against easterners), hallucinations, pettiness, hatred by h.h. The fight has been trivialised by h.h and Mukuni such that no one can tell sense from nonsense and actually the ratio of nonsense to sense now exceeds 85:15 and increasing rapidly.
All since the advent of h.h on our political scene with a mandate to instal a tonga President.

  9. Even if you are a die hard PF supporter, you cannot justify buying fire trucks and ambulances at such inflated prices. And to make worse you don’t purchase from OEMs but from a random kantemba business owned by people linked to the president. Really Your excellence you can do betterr than this…

    12

    20
    • Even if you are a die hard UPND supporter, you cannot justify the displacement and ill-treatment of villagers by your greedy HH.

  10. With these attributes of, h.h anything is better than h.h as a potential President of Zambia. With such hatred in his tribal blood, he must be the only opposition politician in the whole world (including Africa and Zambia) to openly preach hatred while aspiring for the highest office in land. The statement of love and hate that h.h issued in Mongu the other day as if designed to follow up on Mukuni’s sent a chill down my spine, I worried for my children. I wonder what Lozis thought of that statement which was clearly timed to be issued on their Lozi soil what was the intended message?

    14

  11. The 42/42 Fire tender speaks volumes about Lungu.

And the fact that he has blatantly said over and over “Uubomba mwibala……”

    This will be Lungu’s legacy.

  12. If a piece of chicken looks very delicious but has that rotten smell should you continue to eat it? This is what I learnt – me who was once a staunch PF supporter- but like Paul I had a Damascus moment!

I can’t support a govt that has let down farmers on maize prices! I can’t support a govt that continues to purchase luxury SUVs and dish out abnormal allowances and salaries to top govt officers when schools, hospitals etc are underfunded! A govt that can’t even buy dustbins yet they collect huge revenues everyday from taxes, toll gates etc! I gave up some time back!

Zambians who care for this country above anything else must be honest with themselves!

    • Walasa 20:20 vision.
For me it’s more respectable to have chosen, & supported wrong, then having the analytical mind to see, & say no, we are heading for a cliff, & if we don’t turn back we will plummet, & perish.
Problem with most P.F Cadres on LT is they support wrong, just because the perpetrators of the wrongdoing are their tribesmen.
I have someone close to me who always supports P.F, & their crooked Dununa reverse politics, then has the audacity to ask me for help, crying twachula, vintu sivili bwino kuno!
The other day they were complaining ati Tap water is muddy, & they are scared they will contract Cholera.
These are all the offshoots of Visionless leaders who put I’ll qualified cadres, to manage state amenities.

  13. Imwe ba TIZ, just go and beg for small calf from HH. What is corruption in the first place? Isnt it common knowledge that the most corrupt chap on earth is HH? Look from 2006 until today, no democracy, no convention, land grabbing, externalization of poor man’s contribution and yet you think this is the man you entrust with National cake? Lets be serious. UPND is too corrupt and the records are there to prove it, since Mazoka’s death, only Tongas at the helm of UPND, atase!

  14. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is a duck! No amount of spring cleaning of a stained rug will return to its original state and colour. We have before us a lot of evidence of how this president has continued to look upright when there is all the evidence to the contrary!! What is worse is how power has gotten to his head and he contniunes to demonstrate that does not care at all what the citizens think or say about the corruption, mismanagement of the economy and plunder of public resources orchestrated from State House. He has forgotten that the power he wields was handed to him by the Zambian people so he can serve them. So sad.

  16. WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND
WHEN CHILUBA FINALLY GOT RID OF SATA FROM THE MMD, HE CALLED HISELF THE MASTER DRIBBLER LITTLE DID HE KNOW THAT ACTUALLY HE DRIBBLED HIMSELF BECAUSE SATA FORMED A POLITICAL PARTY WHICH BECAME SO FOMIDABLE AND IT WAS ABLE TO EVENTUALLY REMOVE MMD FROM POWER.

WHEN ZUMA FIRED JULIOUS MALEMA, HE THOUGHT THAT HE HAD ACHIEVED A MILESTONE BUT LITTLE DID HE KNOW THAT THE VERY PERSON HE FIRED WAS GOING TO BE INSTRUMENTAL IN BRINGING HIM DOWN AND HE DID, WHAT REMAINS NOW IS TO SEE WEATHER JULIUS MALEMA’S EFF IS THE ONE THAT WILL GRADUALLY REMOVE THE ANC FROM POWER, BUT THE SIGNAL IS THERE.

WHEN MUGABE FIRED MNAGAGWA THE CROCODILE, LITTLE DID HE REALISE THAT THE SAME MNAGAGWA WOULD IMMEDIATELY AUST HIM FROM POWER AND TODAY MUGABE HAS BEED FOCILED.

    WHEN LUNGU…

  17. WHEN LUNGU FIRED KAMBWILI THE LEOPARD, LITTLE DID HE REALISE THAT KAMBWILI WOULD EVENTUALLY REDUCE THE IMAGE OF PF TO THE ZAMBANS IN GENERAL AND TO THE WORLD AT LARGE AND TODAY WE HAVE SEEN THE IMPACT WHICH KAMBWILI HAS BROUGHT TO THE QUICKENED PACE OF THE PF DOWNFALL THE SIGN IS THERE THAT PF IS NOW ON LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEM BEFORE THE FINAL BLOW IS ULEASHED BY THE GENERAL POPULATION OF ZAMBIA COME 2021, WE HAVE SEEN THE SIGNAL AND MOST PF MEMBERS ARE FEELING THE HEAT DOWN THEIR PANTS AND ARE BUSY SUFFERING FROM RUNNING TUMMIES AS THE CLOCK TICKS AWAY, TICK TOCK, YOU CAN NOT STOP THE TIME.

    • ….don’t speak too soon. By elections are just round the corner and believe me, you will cry again. You said the same thing in 2015 and 2016, yet you cried rigging after you were dununad. If you see Kambwili as a serious contender, then it is testimony of how low opposition has become in Zambia…

  18. #18 Samlindo. the problem is that no sensible Zambian sees h.h as a viable alternative to the leadership of this country. Nosensible Zambian will willingly jump from the fr ying pan into the fire. No one is impressed with the virile hatred that is inherent in h.h and that is NOR their idea of a national and UNIFYING leader

    • You are sounding quite panicked young man. Take a breath and chill. If you are not part of the thieving PF chaps and are just a dull clueless supporter then you definitely have nothing to worry about. Teka umutima panshi, you sound like you are about to blow a vein mu mpumi blabbering about HH. HH will take over from this dull Lungu person in 2021 and you will not have to blabber anymore 🙂

  20. Lungu is mortally and integrally bankrupt , he is a corrupt theif. The worst president in Zambia.

Just a simple question of someone asking for his birth details , he wants to turn violent……now he has set a standard, no one has to explain their place of birth or and details of credentials….

This lungu was only sucsesffull at running a chawama bar….his law practice failed and he is a fraud convict……

  21. It will be difficult to fight corruption because hh has corrupted and confused ordinary citizens. Until such a time when UPND shall have a sensible leader with a vision to unite the country. Hh has even made it difficult for other political parties to thrive because of his confusion. Zambia shall be free when this UPND party go into oblivion. UPND is taking us no where but to southern province.

  22. Comment: only a dull person does not know that language is just a medium of communication it does not influence one reasoning,, in Zambia we guided by the same norms,, UPND CADER please don’t bring division among people with the issue of tribe,, you are able to read and write fair enough, then learn to resolve issues like intellectuals with factual valid points

  23. Comment: Tribal talk is the biggest vice which our Leaders put into use when ever they want to make us stop looking at the bigger picture, which is leaving a better Zambia for our young ones,, It’s a clever move because Tribe is the only aspect which exhibits a distinction among people of the same race,, once we rise above the aspect of tribe, then we will be able to make contributions without being inclined with one view,, it is very unfortunate that in this modern age we can have people who think like UPND CADER,, failure will always be failure,, you can’t sugar cote failure

  24. Ba Chibamba, badaala, TIZ shouldn’t be a political platform. How do you allow you allegiance to your tribal god hh cloud your judgement??? Sadly corruption in Zambia is about flinging allegations on those one hates. This method worked to deadly effect during the dark ages of the open court of the post newspaper with Fred M’membe, now renowned socialist gay, the accuser, prosecutor, judge, jury and executioner. You are a disgrace, Chibamba, as your sympathy for hh will never land him in state house and your hate for ECL will not result in a new corruption witch hunt task force style. Just do your work or let those capable take over.
