Copperbelt permanent secretary Bright Nundwe says the region as seen massive investments in the mining sector and manufacturing industry that has helped stimulate economic growth.

Mr Nundwe told ZNBC news in Ndola that the region has a reason to celebrate labour day in style because of the measures government is putting place to better lives for people in the area.

And Mr Nundwe said all mining companies and investors in the extractive industry must put high premium on attractive conditions of service for workers.

Meanwhile Mr Nundwe says Vice President Inonge Wina will be in Kitwe to grace this year’s labour day.

He also disclosed that Lusaka province minister Bowman Lusambo will grace labour day celebrations in Luanshya while Minister in the Vice President’s office Slyvia Chalikosa will be in Ndola.

The PS directed district commissioners to preside over celebrations in areas where ministers will not be present.

    • Well spotted, Bowman Lusambo will grace labour day celebrations in Luanshya. You can guess what game is in play.

    • Copper sustains the whole country yet only Lusaka gets the benefits and Minister Cipuba want to celebrate!

      Mufulira, Luanshya, Kalulushi keep toiling in those copper mines wallow in poverty and celebrate

    • WHAT HAS LABOUR DAY GOT TO DO WITH FOREIGN INVESTMENT.
      ============================
      If foreign investment excites you, I am a worried individual. Home grown and driven investment makes more sense than a copper dependant economy. Diversify, Diversify, Diversify. We cannot be too naive and blind to the trauma and assault caused by the makeshift copper dependant economy. I am not moved.

    • Koma Bowman likes to start fights.

      I am sure Kambwili will block all roads leading to Luanshya.

      Zambian politics would have been funny had it not been for the gross theft and corruption by some officials.

    • Bowman has a constituency in CB …..he knows he has to be visible there or else they will kick him out; they dont joke about there!!

    • It is sad to have dogs carelessly barking just to get paid when there is nothing on the ground to celebrate. Stupid *****s.

  1. Is this Nundwe normal? Hallucinations about massive investment when Mopani has been on unannounced “care and maintenance” since 2013? Just last week Labour minister was complaining about very poor conditions in mining industry after she visited the copperbelt. What a disgrace of an official!

    • @ Thorn in the @$$. Leave your stupid cadre politics out my intelligent argument. HH did not formulate nor execute the privatisation policy. Chiluba and Penza’s MMD did. Mwanawasa sold KCM to Indians for 25m yet you don’t complain about foreigners buying the family silver for a song. YOU would rather mourn day and night about a fellow black Zambian who legitimately provided accounting services and invested his money wisely instead of spending it on concubine and booze . You would rather see rich Indian, Chinese and Lebanese foreigners controlling the crooks we call politicians in Zambia than your fellow Zambians being economically empowered! If no one has told you this before get it from me.You are a typical Zambian *****!

  2. @ Mushota PhD do not be naive. Copperbelt is a politically hot cake. PF is doing all they can not to be like UPND who lose in their backyard. Check how ECL has frequented C/B. Now Bo Inonge. Lusambo is a trusted son-at least by Lamba Chiefs. PF has a strategy-will know whether or not it is working.

    • I don’t dispute what you are saying.

      That doesn’t address my query.

      Thanks

  3. New mining investors pay peanuts……if you call the salaries in dollars ,is it normal to pay 200dollars or less for someone working underground???? copper is sold in dollars all over the world while globe working conditions have not reached zambians …..why….are we slaves…..

  4. A Permanent Secretary who doesn’t know the purpose of Labour Day. International Workers’ Day (Labour day) is not about celebrating “economic investments”, It is all about the worker: rights, dignity, etc.

  5. Figures
    how many jobs have been created since 1 may 2017
    What improvements have been made with regards to worker conditions since 1 may 2017 special focus on the china man ops.
    Nundwe your name sound like a name for for big rat.

  6. The region as seen massive investments in his pockets as permanent secretary. In Roan Township,there are only 200 miners working in the mines. So ,what measures is he talking about?

  7. This is what happens when you appoint dull cadres as civil servants …I blame old man Sata for this!!

  8. Don’t we exgagerate the celebration of labour day and really what’s there to celebrate, a whole year of lazing about? Led by the lazy louts of an incompetent and inept government. I mean, Zambia for the past fifty odd years has failed to grow its industrial base which accounts for a paltry 20ish billion GDP, which is really crumbs and only given to us as gesture of goodwill by the crooked mining companies.

  9. I feel pity for those hardworking civil servants who have been deprived of working their way to the highest office because it is now reserved for and occupied by party cadres. How do you motivate civil servants like this? No wonder they either don’t care or become corrupt, or abuse government transport for that matter….kikikikiki. Can we please revert to career civil service and career diplomatic service pleazeeee!!!

  10. This good news will obviously hurt someone! They say he who does not give praise when it is due is a child of a witch! Mmmm! Seen ’em? They are many here! Chief among ’em is …!

  11. Congratulations CB and Zambia for turning around our province! This province cleanses the spirits of tribalism. If you grew up here, you will recognise that everyone is your friend. I wish one Tonga could grow up here and experience the cleansing, become mature and not as childish as Under Five and run a good campaign full of substance and not fuulishness, I could support such a one! I hope such a one will be “Zambian” and not Namwalan. Zambia can vote for such a one!

  12. what is being manufactured on the CB? Where are the goods being sold? haha; forgot that CB is manufacturing money for PF pockets;

  13. Sorry to digress from the topic: Can someone please pump some sense into the UPND so they withdraw Shamaine Musonda from the Chilanga parliamentary race or else they will lose terribly. The likes of Sylvia Masebo are far better saleable candidates. Remember without Shamaine, Keith Mukata would not be facing a death sentence today and that security guard would still be alive today

  14. ka sharon……………. be true to your GOD………….. never insult other tribes………. you are just an evil person…….. you think Lungu is wiser than GOD………. dont worship Lungu and Lungu does not know you…………. Ise ba kumawa , who are eating with him dont talk or worship him….. Ask vincent………..when they chase him , we will shift camp………… not you……….. we were in MMD now we are eating , enjoying more than you…………………….
