Annoyance over ZNBC and ZANIS websites

Share

ZNBC

Dear Editor,

Allow me to register my concern over Zambia National Broadcsating Corpotation (ZNBC) website.

Every time we listen to news on ZNBC TV either on radio or television, ,the news always ends with, for this and other stories log on to www.znbc.co.zm.
This fooliing has been going on for some years now and no one at ZNBC has taken time to even apologose for this boloney on behalf of manangement.

In a civilized world, this is a serious issues that should not be taken lightly as it amounts to taking customers for granted and lack of seriousness for the national broadcaster.

What example are you giving to other upcoming Tv stations as trensetters if you fail this simple upgrade of your website!

There are stories that needs to read by ourselves when we log on to the ZNBC website and read the story for ourselves.
But the stories are not on the site!

Sadly, this is not the only website with outdated information. Zambia News and Information Services ( ZANIS ) is actually the worst! ZANIS is actually supposed to be the leader in news dissemination in the country but alas it is a sleeping snoring giant with ancient stories on its website. What a shame!

I even curiously decided to check other websites within our country, including some government websites and the story was very much the same.
It is no wonder there is too much misinformation because people cannot verify stories or rumours that they hear.

My appeal is for the concerned authorities to run their websites at par with expectation by updating them regularly and consistently.

  1. Kaili we hire people once to do ka website and nobody manages it after that. If you look at the cost of such a website, ma ma ma ma! $1.2 billion ka!

    • Do you know the meaning of what it is to be broke? In case you do not know, it means there is no money or equipment to use in your work at least most of the time. If ZNBC staff can sometimes go unpaid you think there can be money to do certain things? To verify information can mean having to make calls and confirm things? What do you do if the phone line has been cut or there is no airtime? Come on, make realistic complaints.

  2. They contract wanabe cheap IT experts who use website builders like drupal or word press to make a website in 3 hours. No wonder I easily hack them.

    • And what does BBC Use? Don’t scandalize efforts here when the mediocrity is just with ZNBC. There are tenets and standards in Web development and Drupal with WordPress top the ranks anywhere in the world. Even the Lusakatimes website is built on wordpress.

  3. This is what happens when you hire people who don’t know what to do.
I remember how I once got a job interview with one the local TV stations (I identified errors in their IS, fixed them and then was granted an interview). During the interview they told they were looking for a God-fearing individual which I’m not, and I had to decline that job offer. Now they are limping in ICT services.

  4. ZNBC is a let down in more ways than one. Their spellings on sub headings are wrong . The caliber or news casters eg Hambuba are short of pathetic. content of news is never inspiring. lastly the website was lasted updated last century

  5. THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE: Ba ZNBC you are very behind in this world. Take an example of PRIME TV (Best) they give balanced news. You mean Zambians cant manage ZNBC kano pali nowakashika. I thought we have educated people at ZNBC, let us not underrate ourselves. Take a leaf from ZESCO Employees, very powerful and intelligent guys, I have never seen them calling outsiders each time they is a fault. Immediately they is a fault you receive messages on Cell phones.

  6. We need a White man as ZNBC director, Producer, Editor etc. We have tried blacks and since they have failed just like PF let’s try whites or Chinese

  7. Maybe they don’t know that they are losing money especially that they make free money from TV levy. I always support the government of day but ZNBC has me pissed off. Even young Icengelo is doing far better because you can watch their news from Facebook without difficulty.

  8. ZNBC sent a 5 member delegation to Ankara (Turkey) for a course in News gathering techniques in a digital environment, so the skills that they acquired were not effectively put to good use.

  9. Funny thing about BBC. They literally campaigned against the leader of Turkey, promoting the opposition candidate at every opportunity. Sorry BBC. The people of Turkey are principled and have stuck to their beloved leader!

  10. Whatever happened to Zambia News and Information Services…surely are you waiting for the Chinks to buy it as well, this organisation would have branched out by now through out Southern Africa.

  11. And the IBA which is very quick in shutting down private broadcasters for very minor infringements cannot even talk about znbc and the misleading info. Besides why would you want to visit such websites which are full of government propaganda. Let them be.

  12. I even Wonder what the so called IT department at ZNBC does. ZNBC should better know that they are 50 years behind the customers they claim to be serving.

  13. The fact that you have less belief in us Zambians, we have Young talented best web developers here within our country. It’s just the market or rather ZICTA which I feel is not helping this generation to come out and help. We are there!!!

  14. It’s never too late ZNBC improve your skills and services, too much old people working who are so comfortable with the old system involve young people who knows where technology is moving at.
