The Lusaka High Court has sentenced Shabu Benos to death by hanging after finding her guilty for the murder of Lusaka businessman and Auto Force proprietor, Reeves Malambo on 29th January,2017.

Delivering judgment, High Court Judge in-Charge, Gertrude Chawatama said the murder of Malambo 48 by Benos, 38, was an afterthought.

Judge Chawatama said the defence of provocation, intoxication or self defence was not available to the accused.

And sentencing Benos to death by hanging, Judge Chawatama asked God to have mercy on her soul.

Benos is believed to have murdered her lover Malambo by using a sharp knife to stab him in the back at her house in Lusaka’s Ibex Hill after a fight ensued.

Meanwhile relatives of the deceased have welcomed the court’s judgment as fair.

They say they are happy that justice has prevailed in the matter.

But Benos’ relatives cried following the court’s decision to sentence their relative to death.

    • Reeves was such a kind guy … I first met him with 3 other guys from Zambia in Johannesburg in 1993. We instantly became great friends and I was saddened by the loss. His greatest weakness, women!!! I am sad that we lost him because of that.

This was an every man’s man … May His Soul Rest In Eternal Peace. He built his business from the ground up working extremely hard and he earned every penny he made, a great CEO he was.

Malambo, Malambo, Malambo … so long, my dearest friend!!! Benos, I knew not.

He was my favorite Tonga friend … Sadly missed.

    • Hanging is murder by the state.

If society wishes to punish her, they should jail her for life with hard labour.

      RIP Reeves.

    • Mushota, the family is rich so they dont need money, but I agree sentencing her to death is a bit harsh considering the man may have been abusive and she couldnt date it any more.
You forgot to add, you have a PHD.

  2. Last execution in Zambia was in the 90s by chiluba. President has to sign order to carry out the execution and no president has done it since Zambia became a christian nation. Its in effect, a life sentence.

Why save murderers by not hanging them, when you have no qualms killing the innocent from hunger, corruption and other vices we see in PF?Why fail to execute murderers when your conscious finds nothing wrong with theft?Just kill them failing to sign off an execution is not justified.Dont forget the convicts are a charge on the state which has to feed them and expend money on them when they are sick.

  3. Capital punishment in Zambia? There’s a lot I don’t know about my country of birth!

What a pity! Pointless; not really punishment, is it?

  4. CAN I DO HER FOR THE LAST TIME? SHE IS SO SWEET AND GOING WITH THE SWEETNESS IS A SAD LOSS FOR ZAMBIAN MEN

  5. IF YOU LOOK AT THOSE PICTURES .THOSE HANDS EMBRACING THE GUY WHO KNEW THAT IN FUTURE THEY PICK UP A DAGGER AND AND STAB HIM. WE CAN JUST SAY LET HER USE THIS TIME TO SEEK FOR FORGIVENESS FROM THE MAKER.LESSON WHEN YOU ARE SUCCESSFUL NEVER SLIGHT YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR GOD WHO GIVES BLESSES EVERYONE WHETHER CHRISTIAN OR NOT .

  6. In Zambia, this penalty will never be executed. It is just on paper that she has been sentenced to death by hanging. Mark my words, this lady will be walking free the streets of Lusaka within 12 years. She will be pardoned if close influential relatives join the ranks of PF or whichever party will be in power. That’s Zambia for you.

  7. Sharia law in Zambia… Live by the sword and die by the sword. She’d have been stoned to death in the days of ba Jesus
