Acting Auditor General Mr. Ron Mwambwa has resigned. Mr. Mwambwa has resigned from his position to pursue personal endeavours.

According to a statement from Auditor General’s Office Head of Public Relations Ellen Chikale, Mr Mwambwa has thanked President Lungu and the entire government for the support rendered to him during his tenure as Acting Auditor General.

Mr. Mwambwa has also wished the Office every success in its future work.

He had been acting as Auditor General for over two years since Ms Anna Chifungula resigned in early 2016.

There was reluctance from State House to submit his name to Parliament for ratification leading to suspicion that Mr Mwambwa could have grown frustrated leading to his resignation.

  1. He was acting, NOT a loss.

I am the head of the House when Nick is not home, I walk our dogs and i do the rest but Nick takes over when he comes.

My point is, this is a non story, and this man was just an acting…

England will win the world cup because we left work early to go home and I think my boss is optimstic wwe will win, he has never been wrong.

I support England although i live here in Scotland.

African Teams are out, like Senegal, Ghana and Nigeria, South Africa they lost in first round

    Thanks

    • I would be grateful if you could accept my resignation letter. Please accept this letter of resignation and my gratitude for a memorable life experience of working for an administration of thieves….LOL

    • Guess from which tribe/region the replacement for Mr. Mwambwa will be?

PF tribalism is going to destroy our nation.
Malawians are now more Zambian than some Zambian tribes.
Lebanese crooks are now more Zambian than some Zambian tribes.
Congolese are now more Zambian than some Zambian tribes.

What a shame. Secession is the only option.

    • DAG-D=AG. This equation is mathematically sound and is what kept Ron Mwambwa in the job for three years. But it is politically unsound under the PF. Now reports suggest he is going to another job in Liberia. This is a politically troubled country only trying to rebuild. I would urge Ron to acquaint himself with the history and politics of Liberia. The internet has lots of stuff. The autobiography of Ellen Johnson Serlief, the former president of Liberia is on sale at Grey Matter bookshop at Eastpark Mall. Mwambwa is strongly advised to bury his head in it. There are two societies in Liberia. There are descendants of freed slaves who settled beginning about 1840 and the descendants of the native-born population. They don’t quite love each other.

  2. This is purely out of frustrations because how can he be acting since 2016?I guess the state did not trust him hence failing to confirm him!!
All the best in your future life big man!!

    • Anna Chifungula did not resign; she retired. Ron Mwambwa was her deputy. This office is a constitutional one but was left without a substantive holder for a long time. Tells you what
      the priority is.

    • Two possible scenarios. Mr Mwambwa could choose to be diplomatic in advancing reasons for leaving or spill out his frustrations for patiently staying on acting over 2 years holding on to hope for a better outcome. Just wondering as to whether another person was also acting on Mr Mwambwa’s substantive position! This may mean two top unfilled positions in the Auditor Generals office, how do you run affairs of such a critical institution?

  3. Must have been feeling rejected, dejected and frustrated. So imwe ba Boma tell us whether the man was not qualified. Also when you appoint someone to act for administrative convenience you must fill up the position substantively as soon as possonle. Similarly for Mr Mwambwa, tge appointing authority should have appointed someone within a year if they did like him, it was unfair to keep this man hoping for so long. And what about peoples take of him? His family, his friends, hos workmates, and of course his superiors!. Now I know why that greeting on the picture, have you noted how far he has leaned forward to greet Mr Lungu? The bow is incredible, could have broken his back, all for what? Good he is pursuing other pursuits. Good luck!!!!

  4. Surely how can we have someone acting in this position that long? Its no surprise we have not heard about AG Report 2017 this year as they have hidden it.
I dont blame this guy for running…you can not work with these thieves….he is a true professional unlike the educated fooools on LT who support any how.

  5. You can only fill a vacancy in an acting capacity for a maximum of 6 months, there was definitely a bleach by the employer. As a professional only 2 options are available, either you accept the status quo or move on. He’s elected to move on and that should move the employer to act correctly

  6. I HAVE BEEN ACTING ON MUSHOTA IN SCOTLAND WHILE NICKY IS AT WORK FOR 3YEARS NOW , I FEEL ITS TIME I STOP/RESIGN THOUGH MUSHOTA FEELS SATISFIED WITH ME. wish u well mr mwamba

  7. He is obviously frustrated. There’s no way someone can remain acting in a such a senior position for two years without confirmation. What is wrong with our system kanshi? Are they saying in the two years they were not able to assess whether Mr. Mwambwa is suitable for the position or not? Why should we lag behind in everything?

  8. Government is the worst culprit in labour laws. In the private sector, we have been told that the law is clear in that if a person is acting in a vacancy for 6 months, then that person needs to be confirmed in that position. Reason being 6 months is long enough to access the capability of an individual. This is a serious lapse in the decision making of whoever is responsible in government.

  9. You people cant just get it! It is not just Ron acting for 2 years. The Govt was looking for a Ngoni or Bemba to take that post but couldn’t get any – that is the reason why it took so long.
The thieves in Govt can only work with one of their own for obvious reasons so we should congratulate GRZ for being careful.

  10. They will look for another crook like Eric Silwamba (Chairman of ZCCM) to feel this position …you can say goodbye to AG Reports being released.

    • I think another crook who became rich “overnight,” Childish, through privatization by doing inside tradings and now banks money in Panama (tax evasion) can fill in his position.

  11. The insolent “Guy” “jumped” two articles talking about a chronic loser and came to comment on the one carrying the story of a great man@ He is obsessed with the President! Hooligan and bully! Just as despicable as Childish himself. He has nothing to talk about the HaLoser because he knows that it is “Yakata Yakata, don’t back!”

  12. When is the Zambian lady from South Africa starting her job as Auditor General? It’s been long overdue, we have been waiting…..

  13. It is a position that is demanding and crucial for a normal country – but in Zambia, one that is held in disdain by the thieving regimes. All the efforts, work, reports and revelations of financial atrocity come to nothing. All the diversions and blatant theft and misappropriation of funds from deserving services, go unpunished.

Systems and processes have been made into appendages of the whims and caprices of the ruling misfits.
