Zesco face their Champions League destiny

Share

Zesco United striker Lazarus Kambole says their destiny in 2018 CAF Champions League Group D campaign will be decided in Friday’s away date against Primeiro de Agosto of Angola.

Agosto hosts Zesco in Luanda in an 18h00 kickoff at Estadio 11 de Novembro where the 2010 AFCON final was played.

Zesco are bottom of Group D and winless after three rounds on 2 points and are also five points behind leaders Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia and another two adrift of second placed Mbabane Swallows of eSwatini with three games left to play.

But Zesco are tie 2 points with third placed Agosto after drawing 0-0 in their first leg meeting on July 17.

“It is going to be difficult but we have done everything in training and we are very much ready. We know what they are capable of and have worked on the mistakes from the first leg,” Kambole said.

“This is the game that will hold everything so we are going to give it everything.

“A win will ensure our chances of progressing to quarterfinal are high but if we lose then it is going to make things difficult for us.”

Victory for Zesco will lift them to 5 points and second place should Etoile beat Swallows again in the late evening Group D kickoff in Sousse.

Etoile beat Swallows 3-0 away in eSwatini on July 17.

Furthermore, victory is critical for Zesco with another away date against Swallows in their next and penultimate Group D fixture on August 18.
