Zesco United’s opponents in their penultimate Group D match of the 2018 CAF Champions League Mbabane Swallows dropped from 2nd to 3rd after losing away in Tunisia on Friday night.

Swallows lost 2-0 to Group D leaders Etoile du Sahel in Sousse to suffer back-to-back defeats against the 2007 champions following a 3-0 home loss in eSwatini on July 17.

The Tunisians win came via goals from Maher Hannachi and Ben Belgacem in the 21st and 89th minutes respectively.

Etoile’s victory saw them seal their quarterfinal spot with a game to spare thanks to their very healthy goal difference on 10 points.

Their qualification has left second placed Primeiro de Agosto on 5 points, Swallows on 4 points, and Zesco on 2 points in a mathematical battle in their last two games to fill the second quarterfinal slot from Group D.

Zesco visit Swallows on August 18 in eSwatini after the two sides finished 1-1 in the first leg in Ndola on May 5.

Agosto, who beat Zesco 2-1 at home in Angola on Friday, are also on the road on August 18 to play Etoile.
