Chembo’s Buildcon target historic win over Warriors

Buildcon host Kabwe Warriors on Saturday at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola seeking their debut league win over the Railwaymen.

The ambitious Ndola side have never beaten Warriors since they made their topflight debut in 2017 after collecting three successive draws.

However, Buildcon came close to breaking that record last April but squandered a 5th minute away lead in Kabwe to finish 1-1 with Warriors.

Buildcon are currently eighth on 37 points but a win will not change their status on the log because they are currently six points behind seventh placed Warriors with thirteen games left to play.

“We have to dig deep. It won’t be easy because Warriors are having a good run and enjoying good form despite their recent losses,” Buildcon coach Tenant Chembo said.

Warriors have struggled in their last four games collecting just two points during coach Tennant Chilumba’s absence when he was overseeing the Zambia U17 teams 2018 COSAFA U17 Cup campaign in Mauritius.

“Their record overall has seen them doing well so it is important we remain focused on the job at hand,” Chembo said.

“We are in the middle of a very competitive period and it is an important game for both sides,” Chembo added.

“It is important in the since that we are playing at home and we have to take the initiative.”
