Government to hold NGOs Conference at the end of August

Government will on August 30th to 31st hold the 2018 Congress of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs).

The Department of Registrar for NGOs under the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services and the Council of NGOs will facilitate the holding of the conference in line with the provisions of the NGO Act number 16 of 2009.

Ministry of Community Development and Social Services Permanent Secretary, Liya Mutale said modalities for attending the National Congress will be announced during the on-going Provincial Consultations to end during the last week of August.

Dr.Mutale told ZANIS in statement today that the Provincial consultations are being held in all Provinces to discuss the agenda items for the Congress.

She said it is during the same consultations that the participation modalities are being developed.

Dr.Mutale explained that the congress will among other agenda items, discuss election of the Council of NGOs in line with section 30 subsection 3 of the NGO Act.

She pointed out that the congress will have nomination of Seven NGOs representatives to be appointed to the NGO Registration Board by the Minister of Community Development and Social Services in line with section 32 subsection2 of the NGO Act number 16 of 2009.

Dr. Mutale further disclosed that the congress will see updates on the status of the NGO Policy.

  1. What an oxymoron of an idea. How does a government then hold a non governmental organisation conference?? How is it possible? Its like me saying that satanists are holding a baptism. this is zambia under pf bane.
