Chipolopolo makes modest move on FIFA Rankings

Chipolopolo have made a marginal shift up the latest FIFA Rankings released on Thursday.

Zambia moved just one place from 76 to 75 for the month of September.

This is after they drew 1-1 away to Namibia in a 2019 AFCON Group K qualifier on September 8 in Windhoek and a 1-0 friendly win over hosts Gabon on September 11 in Libreville what were Chipolopolo’s first games since June.

Gabon and Namibia are 87 and 116 respectively on the FIFA Rankings.

Chipolopolo are currently 16th on the CAF Rankings with South Africa just above them at number 73 while Uganda are below them at number 83.

The CAF Top 10 on the FIFA Rankings comprises of Tunisia (23), Senegal (25), DR Congo (40), Morocco (45), Nigeria (48), Cameroon (50), Ghana (54),Burkina Faso (56), Mali(63) and Egypt (64).

Meanwhile, Chipolopolo’s next Group K qualifier opponents Guinea Bissau on October 10 in Lusaka and on October 13 away in Bissau are at 121 in the World.

  1. Who cares about rankings ? how many countries have lifted the trophy because of there good ranking ? football is on the pitch not paper, Sven do your job.

  2. Football is the only thing I am so proud about Zambia, we shocked the world. They called us surprise winners. Not so fast , we should have won the Africa Cup ages ago.But like everything in life it is never too late.

  3. Comment:This looks like the road to Russia.
    Nigeria beat us at home in the opening game the same way Mozambique beat us at home,
    We then drew with Cameroon away and the same happened when we played Namibia away..
    it’s up to us to beat Guinea Bissau home and away like we beat Algeria then change the formula by beating Namibia and Mozambique respectively… we can do it!!!
