The Movement for Multi-party of Democracy (MMD) has said that they are not moved by the decision by the ACC to appeal it’s Party President Dr. Nevers S. Mumba’s absolute discharge.
In a statement, the party said that instead of being worried, they are Extremely Happy that the ACC has appealed Dr. Mumba’s absolute discharge as this has confirmed that Dr. Mumba was indeed acquitted.
“We as a Party are not worried as the Prophets of doom would allege but instead we are happy because this has proved to the Nation that indeed Dr. Mumba was set free and will further give us the opportunity to get rid of this case once and for all”, the statement said.
They further said that they have faith in the Courts of the land and that the court will sort out that case once and for all.
“We are neither shaken nor tickled over the appeal because we have faith in the Courts of the Land and We believe that the High Court will sort out this case once and for all”, the statement said.
The Party has further advised the ACC to instead direct it’s time and energies to the numerous cases that the Auditor General Report highlights every year and not the politically motivated cases such as Dr. Mumba’s case.
The Party further called upon it’s Party Officials and Members throughout the Country not to get concerned with this latest development as the Party Leadership under Dr. Nevers S. Mumba is intact and concentrating on the rebuilding of the party.

Why do people want others to go to jail? Jail is bad.

This has nothing to do with the party. It is about Mr Mumba as an individual. The ACC have the right to appeal, just as Mr Mumba if the sentence had been perceived as unduly punitive by himself.

ACC is a useless vehicle for PF’s corruption. They only act when the leader thieving thug, lungu, directs them to act. ACC is now used to settle scores with opposition or any one who threatens to disrupt their thieving ways. The only reason HH is not been victimised by ACC is because he is a very clever man who has done all his business under the book and is open about his dealings. Meanwhile lungu who supposedly earns a meagre salary as president has managed to amass over 23million over a few years period. MMD you are extremely happy? The bishop is going in for a stint long enough to shatter his political ambitions. Remember the guy was found guilty as charged. All that is required in this appeal is for the High Court to sentence him to jail in accordance with the guilty verdict and the law.
This is a no brainer, unless you are a upnd dunderhead.
My is that the MMD (Mumba) seems confused about the situation. Pastor Mumba was not found not guilty. The ACC is appealing against the Absolute Discharge granted to the accused. ..it didn’t make sense at all. Maybe the Pastor could have been sentenced to some period but suspend the jail term for a period.
I dont think the MMD understands the problem with the sentence. Shutting up might be reasonable. The ACC is within it’s right to appeal the sentence. If the appeal court agrees with the ACC you have all reasons to be worried. How can you not worry unless you don’t understand!
MMD please retract your statement that you are not worried. You should be worried, because Nevers Mumba was found guilty and set free. This has never happened before anywhere in the world. The Court of Appeal will surely give him custodial sentence. MMD, were you in your right frame of mind to say that you are not worried? The Judge will sentence him because of your statement. ACC please pursue justice for all Zambians.
