Vice President Inonge Wina says government wants to remodel all resettlement schemes in the country to make them attractive to young people wishing to invest in the agriculture sector.

The Vice President said this is why she has embarked on a programme to visit resettlement schemes in the country to assess their status and consider upgrading them to enhance delivery of services.

Ms Wina was speaking upon arrival at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe Airport enroute to Lufwanyama district to check on kabilubilo resettlement scheme tomorrow.

She stated that government has created resettlements to ensure that those who retire and want to venture into farming can have a piece of land where to settle.

The Vice President said that this is the reason government wants to upgrade resettlements so that they can have facilities to enhance provision of services such as water, education and health.

And Copperbelt Province Minister, Japhen Mwakalombe who welcomed the Vice President said the province is one of the regions that has a huge number of projects in the water sector which are in access of one Billion United States Dollars.

Mr Mwakalombe cited the Nkana Mulonga and Kafubu Water projects as huge investments that will improve the lives of the poor people in the province.

He said it is through such projects that government wants people to live health lives so that they remain productive and contribute to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The Vice President is on the Copperbelt Province on a two day working visit.

Mrs Wina is tomorrow expected to tour kabilubilo resettlement scheme where she will check on the school and the clinic in Lufwanyama district.

The Vice President will later in the afternoon pay a visit to St Anthony’s Children Village in Masala in Ndola before returning to Lusaka.

  1. They seem as people who knows what they are doing, yet in reality there are empty, broken cistans that can not hold water, she’s just out there to waste time and make allowances.

    • Ba Inonge does better things, not picking up trash every weekend, jobs the Youths should be doing.

  2. Vice President Inonge Wina needs to do more in her job. She needs to be active, monitor the Ministers and help the Republican President HE ECL to effectively deliver. Currently I think she is too laid back.

  3. Sure there a lot of money that has been poured into water utilities on the Copperbelt but the service from these utilities is pathetic. The water situation is getting worse implying the monies are not being used for the intended purpose. The MDs in these utilities have overstayed and have no new ideas. A shake up is needed in order to get the benefit of the money being poured into these water utilities.

  4. All Government sponsored project should be people driven. The People of Zambia should also show willingness to participate in any economic activities designed by Government. The majority are waiting for Government to show them the way ,Instead of starting off and meeting the Government on the way.It is very sad to see so many Hungry people in a land full of wealth.
Government responsibilities are to create a peaceful environment for trading, learning and human growth.
